Hallo allen!

Ik weet het, 18 juni is gekomen en gegaan, maar ik heb nu pas eventjes de kans om iets te zeggen over het Vergeet-mij-nietjesproject dat ik omschrijf in de column van de nieuwe Shoot.

Het vergeet-mij-nietje hieronder is de foto die de column illustreert. Het is voor mijn moeder. Zij overleed nu bijna 20 jaar geleden, maar ik 'spreek' nog vaak met haar.

SUMMER ALIEN

Het is nog geen zomer, maar vanochtend was het wel ideaal weer om de zomerbeestjes die er al waren te fotograferen. Windstil, droog, dauw, zon... Deze juffer stond geduldig model, ik mocht zelfs heel dichtbij komen 🙂

It's not summer yet, but this morning was ideal to photograph the summer critters that were already around. No wind, dry, dew, sunshine... This damselfly was posing patiently and allowed me to move very close 🙂

Binnenkort weer op reis, en ik heb me wat beter uitgerust om betere filmpjes te kunnen maken. Zo kan ik in mijn filmpjes op social media wat meer bewegende beelden zetten, dat is toch een leuke toevoeging, niet?

En het zomernummer van Shoot zit eindelijk in de bus.

Met mijn column over Vergeet-mij-nietjes en een praktijkartikel van 6 pagina's over hoe ethisch verantwoord wildlife te fotograferen. Ik hoop dat beide publicaties elke lezer even doen stilstaan bij een aantal dingen des levens.

BREAKFAST ROLLER

Aanvankelijk was ik niet zo happy met de beeldopbouw van deze foto - ik had graag meer ruimte onderin de foto gehad zodat de foto volledig symmetrisch was. Maar ik bleef er maar naar kijken, en vond het momentje toch bijzonder genoeg om te delen.

Bij zonsopgang in de Lentorre Lodge fotografieschuilhut, komt de hongerige vorkstaartscharrelaar vanuit de boom checken of er misschien een lekker insect in het water ligt. Gelukkig voor hem en voor ons, is dat ook meestal zo 🙂

BREAKFAST ROLLER

Initially I wasn't too happy with the composition of this photo - I would have liked more space at the bottom of the photo to make it completely symmetrical. But I kept looking at it, and found it special enough to share.

At sunrise in the Lentorre Lodge photography hide, the hungry Lilac-breasted Roller takes position on the tree to check if there might be a tasty insect in the water. Luckily for him and for us, there usually is 🙂

EEN MET DE NATUUR

In het hartje van Selous/Nyerere verblijven we in een heerlijk tentenkamp waar de dieren zo in en uit lopen. Zie je een leeuw of een olifant, loop je er wel best niet naartoe voor een foto 😉
Deze leeuwin lag lekker relaxed enkele tientallen meters van de tenten vandaan...

ONE WITH NATURE

In the heart of Selous/Nyerere we stay in a lovely tented camp where the animals just walk in and out. After all, it's their land we're on and not vice versa! If you see a lion or an elephant however, you better not walk up to it for a photo 😉
This lioness was lying relaxed a few dozen meters away from the tents...

Het is nu het einde van het regenseizoen in Kenia. Veelbeloved om te zien dat de schuilhut van Lentorre nu al bezocht wordt door zeer gewilde soorten, zoals deze troep leeuwen en een caracal eergisteren. Wat gaat dat zijn in september, wanneer alles droog en schraal is, en de waterplas aan de schuilhut één van de weinige drinkplaatsen is in dit gebied?

It is now the end of the rainy season in Kenya. It is promising to see that the Lentorre hide is already being visited by very popular species, such as this lion family and a caracal the day before yesterday. What will it be like in September, when everything is dry and barren, and the waterhole at the hide is one of the few drinking stations in this area?

Met plezier kondig ik aan dat er twee nieuwe fotosafari's online staan!

Wegens het grote succes van de 'Masai Mara Express' hebben we besloten deze in 2027 te herhalen.

Ook 'Exclusief South Luangwa - Land van Leeuw en Luipaard' was meteen na de aankondiging volzet. Ook deze bieden we dus opnieuw aan, en dit in 2028. Er is slechts plaats voor 5 deelnemers, dus snel zijn is de boodschap!

I am pleased to announce that two new photo safaris are online!

Due to the great success of the 'Masai Mara Express' we have decided to repeat it in 2027.

'Exclusive South Luangwa - Lion and Leopard Country' was also fully booked immediately after the announcement. We are therefore offering this trip again, this time in 2028. There is only room for 5 participants, so better be quick!

PURPLE RAIN

Het is donker en het regent, maar als je echt zin hebt om te fotograferen, laat je dan niet kisten! Deze week heb ik tussen de buien door wat gespeeld met een Juffertje in het groen dat in de knop stond en wat artificieel licht 🙂
