Hi there friends,
Hope you all had a wonderful day. As if this day wasn't nice enough for Simon (31°C in the Campine region of Belgium!), he received an opportunity of a lifetime today!
Responding to one of our outstanding requests on the Couchsurfing website, Richard pointed our attention to his upcoming 55-day sailing expedition across the Atlantic. Of course, there wasn't a lot of hesitation... After the Loa-adventures in July/August's Tall Ships Races, Simon's sealegs are eager to see action again on board of the Christina 2! We will start halfway October off the coast of Morocco, crossing a host of islands, and expecting landfall in St. Thomas two months later. Simon will soon buy a GoPro and start hitchhiking Southwards. He'll pause his favorite way of travel for a few weeks in Southern France to get some money in by working at local farms, and afterwards continue his dash towards Morocco.
The Aconcagua-expedition will move to the end of January, as to be able to give us a chance to find out if we will have the necessary funds for making the ascent.
We also received a mail from an Argentinian fellow-traveler that showed interest in becoming our fourth companion. Of course, we have had a number of such requests that turn out awry quite fast, yet we feel this is one on our "seriously-considering" pile. So again, a very nice opportunity.
Ending with a bit of a bummer: after we contacted the SEGA (you know, the guys and girls from Sonic the Hedgehog...) legal team, they kindly told us to get lost with our name. Although they may have phrased it a bit differently, we still got the message and are currently thinking of an alternative name for our project...
So, all in all, enjoying life in a -and I quote my excessively worried mom here- "deeply and disturbingly abnormal" way.
Take care and pursue your dreams,
Simon and the other soon-to-be-something-else-than-"SEGA"-travelers
