First impressions

Okay, here we go:
Friday.
Brought to the airport, had the last coffee with mum and dad, called by Dries and Karen to say goodbye. Went through security, all brand new in Brussels. The scan to check you handluggage screws up all the settings of your phones, tablets etc.
Plain left to late, got worried I'ld miss the next one. Flew to Rome, barely on time for the next one, flew to NY, first time in the USA!
Found out how to get to the hotel, no reservation was made for me. Luckely they were able to 'create' me a room. Went to a real fancy room. Ordered food. People entered my room! Dubble booking... The older couple left, I slept like a baby.

Saturday.
Picked up real early from the hotel. Brought to the harbour. SAW THE STATUE OF LIBERTY! SAW DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN! Arrived at the ship. It's huge! Waited for 2 hours, entered the ship.
Hand in my medical papers, was told they couldn't accept me, got some information, welcoming speech, picture taken, still not sure if I can stay on board, brought to my cabin, slipped and fell. Installed my stuff, roommate left me a welcomingnote, went to my first training. Foot started to hurt, went to the nurse. Went to the doctor. More training. No uniform yet, got told to rest, not to work.
We set sail, finally got accepted for duty. went to my cabin, slept through diner.

Sunday.
Slept through breakfast. More training, some colleagues came to check up on me, my colleagues are very nice! More training, safety and security, so hungry, finnaly got to lunch, more training, met my bosses, more training. More training.

Monday.
Arrived in Bermuda. Got to work for the first time. No one knew what I'm supposed to do. 'Go shaduw someone', 'Don't shaduw yet, go sit with her', 'fill in your exams' (yes, i have to do exams!), 'fill in your online tests', 'follow Mario', 'Mario's busy',...
Got to more training, got to a meeting with the new hire and the boss. Finally done for the day.

You guys, I'm telling you: my head is exploding! I'm going to try and go out now for an hour. After that it's back to work!

Bye! V

While Tomorrowland is slowly getting ready for the big party, I'm finishing the last few details for departure tomorrow.
Few more papers to sort out, few more things to pack, few more mess to clean, few more people to say goodbye to, few more...

Sure, everything will be fine :p

As you may already know, soon I'll go on another trip. This time to go working on a cruiseship for 6 months!
I'll have to work really hard, but hopefully there will be some time left to see some of the places I'll go to.

See y'all soon. V

If anyone wonder, this is the best way to describe how I've been feeling for the last week, and how I probably will feel...

If anyone wonder, this is the best way to describe how I've been feeling for the last week, and how I probably will feel for quite a while!

Although being able to leave your toiletries unattended in the bathroom IS a major perk...

I'm in the airport in Singapore!! My flight is in 2 hours, all set, backpack is already on it's way and I can't be more excited!! Only 1 problem: I just remembered I don't know where I left my pills for my stomach :p So I've got 2 times 7 hours flight ahead of me, I hope to watch some good movies and have some good (free!) food :D Arrival should be in Amsterdam but I heard there's some crazy weather in Europe, so who knows ;). As long as I'll arrive home tonight, I'll be fine!

So Saturday, we went to Malacca, the city with the dutch/red square. I was very happy to see some culture, a smaller city with a big history! Very pleasent. We walked around there and went to the night market in Chinatown. That wasn't very worth it: so many people and nothing but cheap toys and very fake 'louis vuitons' and 'chanel-bags'. Again the next day, we went to Johor Bahru. A city near to Singapore. Very big, not touristic at all. It's full of people working in Singapore to make a lot of money, and living in Malaysia to spend a little. Nearby though, they have: LEGOLAND!!
We went there on Monday, I felt like a little kid, trying to steal a little legoblock from the huge statues. Didn't work, unfortunately!

Today, we went to Singapore! We are, again, in a way to fancy hotel. It's the very last one though. I'll have to leave very early to have my flight. I can't tell: I'm so happy to go home. Tomorrow!

Lazy day: trying to sleep a bit, getting out of bed at 10am, going to 3 different shopping malls, getting back to the hotel, getting ready for another shopping mall, getting to a nightmarket, getting back to bed. Such a pleasant feeling. And I didn't even spend more than 50 euros for the whole thing.

The BatuCaves were really nice, lots of steps though! Monkeys jumping up and down the stairs to look for tourists with food. Lots and lots and lots of pigeons. A few roosters and a spider-ant. No idea what the last thing really was, but another tourist and me desided that that was a good description.

After the caves, I went to the old KL-trainstation and did a little windowshopping in a huge shoppingmall near the 'sentral station'. They had 'Godiva'!
Around half past 12, it was time to check up on Miriam. She hasn't been feeling well last night, probably foodpoisoning and slept through the day. I walked a bit more in the city, went to the 'Merdeka Square' and looked for the 'Central Market' and 'Chinatown' but either those last two are way smaller than anticipated, or I just didn't find them ;)

Up until now, I find Malasian people extremely nice. They all smile and say hello! (apart from the ocasional grumpy pants and obviously the people working at ticket sale counters :p )

Now, we're getting ready to see the 'Petronas Towers'! I'm, again, very excited!
