This year, we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Bhutan's Tourism. Back in 1974, Bhutan warmly welcomed the world to its breathtaking landscapes, coinciding with the Coronation of His Majesty the Fourth King of Bhutan. The inaugural group of 14 tourists entered Bhutan via road through Phuentsholing, as the country did not have an airline at the time.

Over the past five decades, Bhutan's tourism sector has seen remarkable transformation, from policy revisions to the establishment of airlines and the ever-evolving landscape. Nevertheless, one fundamental principle has remained unwavering: the concept of "High Value, Low Volume." This guiding concept has encouraged a mindful and sustainable approach to tourism development. As we anticipate further evolution in the field, our fervent hope is for Bhutan to stay true to its commitment to sustainable tourism development.

To all the guests, stakeholders, departments and Bhutanese - TASHI DELEK!! 🇧🇹
