Life in Sakteng feels very different from urban Bhutan. It’s one of the most remote highland regions in eastern Bhutan, sitting around 3100m.

The Brokpa people live a traditional semi-nomadic lifestyle centered on yak herding, weaving, and mountain farming.
Life there is simple and closely connected to nature, with strong community bonds, unique clothing and language, and rich Buddhist and folk traditions including stories of the Migoi (yeti).

Yongphula Airport is one of 4 airports in the Bhutan is located away 37km Tashigang in eastern Bhutan.
It’s built as a simple airstrip by Indian Border Road Organisation(Indian Military) in 1960,mainly for military and strategic purpose not for publics flights
Later fully took over by Bhutan government on 2000 and it’s upgraded it.
In December 2011, Officially inaugurated as a domestic airport.
In 2013 ,It’s closed due to safety and runway issues
In 8 October 2017,Reopened after major upgrades to meet modern standards

The main goals of are improve connectivity to eastern Bhutan
Support tourism in places like Trashigang.
Help economic development in remote regions.
Reduce long travel time by road (which can take many hours)
