The 400 year old Paga goenpa stands at 2800 metres. It was reconstructed after a fire incident in 2012.

The monastery is believed to be built at the spot where Geshey Kunga Gyatsho saw a vision of golden flowers blooming.

There are also stories of how crows brought water bowl offerings below the monastery during its construction, worshipping the abode.

Paro Taktshang, also known as the Tiger's nest, is associated with Guru Rinpochoe's visit in the 8th century.

It is believed that Guru took the wrathful form of Dorji Drolo riding on a tigress (his consort Tashi Khyirdhen) when he visited Taktshang.

Out of 12 temples, 8 temples are open to the general public. The hike takes around 1 to 2 hours depending from person to person.

The site is one of the most reverred among Bhutanese and on the bucket list among many others.

If you travel across the northern part of Paro Valley, don't miss out on the 600 year old Dumtseg Temple.

As per a local legend, the temple was built to counteract an earth-owning spirit and a nga-spirit. It is believed to be built on the nose of a hill that looks like a frog by Thangthong Gyalpo, the iron bridge builder.

The three stories of the temple signify three different classes of initiation and empowerment practices. The top floor of the temple hoists wish fulfilling relic of Thangthong Gyalpo, self-spoken milarepa statue, the future Buddha & Vajradhara.
