🌸 Here are some beautiful moments from the Rhododendron Festival currently taking place in Merak, Trashigang 🇧🇹
Celebrated from 5–9 April 2026, this vibrant festival marks the stunning flowering season in Bhutan’s eastern highlands at an altitude of around 2,900 meters, where the mountains come alive with color.
First inaugurated in 2025, the festival was created to highlight the region’s remarkable biodiversity—home to over 40 species of rhododendron—while promoting sustainable tourism and uplifting local communities.
Graced by Their Majesties The King and The Gyaltsuen, along with members of the Royal Family, the festival draws thousands of visitors each year to witness the unique traditions of the Brokpa communities of Merak and Sakteng.
From lively traditional dances and folk songs to local games, crafts, and organic products, every moment reflects a way of life deeply rooted in nature, culture, and harmony. Nestled within the pristine Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary, the region is also known for its rich biodiversity and deep spiritual significance.
