​While lions hunt as a team, feeding is rarely a group effort of equal sharing. Dominant females will aggressively protect their portion using vocal warnings, snarling, and flashing their teeth—a clear signal to lower-ranking members to wait their turn.

​This raw behavior is essential in the wild, ensuring the strongest lions get the nutrition they need to defend the pride and protect their cubs.

While male lions are famous for ruling the plains, seeing one high up in a tree is a whole different story! Here’s why he’s up there:

After spending up to 20 hours a day resting, a lioness will often stand, stretch and yawn before becoming active again. Whether she's moving to join the pride, patrol her territory or prepare for the evening, these small behaviours are a familiar part of a lion's daily routine.

These painted wolf (African wild dog) pups are full of energy, constantly chirping, playing and demanding attention—making it difficult for the adults to get much rest.
But this noisy litter is wonderful news.

African wild dogs are one of the world's most endangered large carnivores, with only around 6,600 left in the wild—and just 1,400 able to breed. Habitat loss, road accidents, snaring, and diseases like rabies and canine distemper (passed on from domestic dogs) have driven the decline.

Every successful litter is incredibly important. Wild dogs live in close-knit family packs, and these pups represent the future of one of Africa's most remarkable predators.

Seeing a healthy litter like this in Botswana is a privilege—and a reminder of why protecting wild places matters.
