Meet Scout — our four-legged deckhand and the “reel” boss of the boat 🐾🎣

Rain or shine, this pure bred good boy is always geared up and ready to hit the water, always first on deck. Whether he’s keeping watch on the rods for fish, boosting crew morale, or just soaking up the salty air, Scout never misses a personal trip- especially with snacks involved😜 Loyal, hardworking, and always wagging — every fishing adventure is better with him on board.

And let’s face it every boat needs a solid crew i mean Who needs a first mate when you’ve got Scout? 🐶⚓️ 🎣

Well… that was a weekend I won’t forget anytime soon! 🎣

Somehow I (Taylor McPherson) managed to come out of the Sproat Loggers Winter/Spring Derby with 1st place and a 24.5 lb salmon — which honestly feels like the fish equivalent of winning the lottery! I’d like to say it was pure skill… but I’m pretty sure the salmon just made one bad decision and the rest is history.

In all seriousness, the derby was an absolute blast. Congrats to everyone and HUGE thanks to all the amazing sponsors, organizers and volunteers who put in the time and effort to make this event happen every year. It takes a lot of work behind the scenes and it really shows. The people, the laughs, and the friendly competition made it such a great weekend.

And of course a big thank you to my boyfriend Rick Taylor of Tyee Rick Sport Fishing for fishing the derby with me and helping haul that ABSOLUTE TANK of a salmon into the boat. Let’s be honest… without him there’s a good chance the fish would’ve won that battle!💪🤪

Feeling very grateful, slightly sore from reeling, and already looking forward to next year! 🐟🏆

Power is back on in the bam!! 🎉 With the recent wildfire activity (its now “held”) and the road between port alberni and Bamfield being closed we wanted to offer a “work around” so we’re offering to do trips out of ucluelet to make it easier for accommodation and travel until we pull the boat for winter.
