Recently, I took a little time off to enjoy a birthday getaway with my husband. ❤️

This was actually our first time travelling together without the kids. I definitely missed them, but I was also reminded that sometimes it’s important to disconnect from the everyday routine and make time for an adults-only getaway.

A little sunshine, the sea, no schedules and some uninterrupted time together was exactly what we needed.

Sometimes the best trips aren’t about doing everything, they’re simply about slowing down, reconnecting and enjoying the moment.

A perfect little birthday getaway.

Looking for something a little different for your next getaway? Colombia should be on your radar.

I’ve just returned from an incredible week exploring Cartagena and Barú with Transat, and this is a destination that genuinely surprised me.

Cartagena for the history, culture, colourful streets, shopping and energy.

Barú for a completely different vibe, beautiful beaches, a slower pace and the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Caribbean Sea.

Throughout the week, we stayed at three different resorts and visited several others, giving me the opportunity to experience the destination from a travel advisor’s perspective and see firsthand what might work for different types of travellers.

But what really makes Colombia special goes far beyond the resorts. It’s the food, the people, the history, the culture and the experiences that make you want to discover more.

If you’ve done the traditional Caribbean vacation and you’re looking for somewhere that offers beautiful beaches AND culture, history and adventure, Colombia might just be your next destination.

I came home with a whole new appreciation for Colombia and excited to help my clients discover it for themselves.

Our time in St. Thomas was short, but we made the most of it: Mountain Top, the famous Banana Daiquiri, incredible views and a few perfect hours at Emerald Beach.

Sometimes a cruise stop gives you just enough of a destination to know you need to come back.
