Hot weather and long days bring smiles, full docks, cold drinks… and in many places around Vancouver Island and coastal British Columbia, sea fog.

It can roll in quietly and change a perfect summer day into a serious navigation exercise.

Have fun. Stay sharp. And we’ll see you out there.

How Sea Fog Forms Over Cold Water

Sea fog forms when warm, moist air moves across colder water. As the air cools to its dew point, moisture condenses into tiny water droplets, creating the low, dense fog that can quickly reduce visibility for boaters.

The sun was shining and so were the beautiful faces who helped us christened our new home at Brentwood Bay Resort last night.

Last night was one of those evenings that reminds us why we do what we do.

We were grateful to welcome friends, clients, partners, supporters, and fellow coastal adventurers to celebrate.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared stories, offered encouragement, and helped us mark this milestone. What began as a simple idea—to help people build confidence on the water and experience the coast more deeply—continues to grow because of the incredible community around it.

We’re excited for what comes next: new training programs, coastal experiences, Seaside Talks & Training™, Port to Palate™ adventures, flotillas, retreats, and opportunities to help more people discover what they’re capable of.

To everyone who has been part of the journey so far: thank you.

Life is short. The coast is long. Here’s to the adventures ahead.

New Base. New Season.

Voyage Makers Coastal Adventures has officially moved to The Marina at Brentwood Bay Resort.

After two wonderful years at Victoria International Marina, we’re beginning a new chapter — with a beautiful new home base for boating education, private training, Skipper’s Mindset™ programs, Port to Palate™ coastal culinary experiences, bareboat charter support, and future retreats in the Salish Sea.

June also kicks off our new collaboration with Seaport Yacht Charters, Seaside Talks & Training, a new Coastal Concierge program at Port Sidney Marina and more.

The coast doesn't care where you're from, who you love, how you identify or what path brought you here. It simply invites you to discover what you're capable of.

At Voyage Makers, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to find the joy that comes from learning something new.

Come as you are. Learn what you're capable of.
Let the coast be your classroom.

Happy Pride Month. 🏳️‍🌈

A great set of knot lessons - thanks The Bear Essentials Outdoors Co.

The Nomadic Sweethearts really knocked it out of the park with this one.

Kitimat is amazing. And it’s a great place for boaters. MK Bay Marina is a great stop for explorers who make their way up north.

Boaters in coastal British Columbia can’t avoid tides and currents.

Learning why with Neil deGrasse Tyson is a lot of fun.

Understanding how to manage tidal ranges and fast currents is an essential skill.

If you’re planning a cruise to unfamiliar waters in the Pacific Northwest and want itinerary planning insights, give us a call.

Instructors are standing by!
