R.I.P King Harald V.

I took this image a few days ago at the Royal Palace. Very moving to see all the people gathering and the incredible amount of flowers.

Today is the funeral and our beloved King will be put to rest ❤

In Bergen today ♥️👑

People have put down flowers on and around “the Blue Stone” which sits on King Olav Vs square, who was the father of Harald V.

On day 5 on my small group Norway tour we set our course into the Norwegian countryside 🏞️🌳

Group picture is from the top of the Lysgårdsbakkene ski jumps, used during the 1994 Olympics in Lillhammer. Some rode the bus down while others hiked! What would you have done? 😆

We enjoyed a guided tour of the Maihaugen Open Air Folk Museum, observing old houses, animals, a stave church and lush countryside.

In the afternoon we stopped by the Ringebu Stave Church, before settling into our farm stay a bit further north in the Gudbrandsdalen valley, but more about that in the next post (stay tuned) 😎

For lunch on day 4 we indulged ourselves with an amazing rekesmørbrød (shrimp sandwich) 😋

It’s a Scandinavian summer classic and somehow it tastes even better when you eat it in a marina restaurant with a sea view and a cold beer 🍻

With a generous portion of shrimp and mayonnaise, this was one of many highlights 🦐 🍋

Also, notice how we are all eating it with a knife and fork 🍴 If you can eat it with your hands without making a mess it means there are not enough shrimp on top ;)

Skål! 🍻

On day 3 of my small-group Norway tour we cruised down the Oslo fjord to the Oscarsborg fortress 🏰

Here we learned about the WW2 Battle of the Drøbak sound, where the N**i cruiser Blücher was sunk on the morning of the 9th of April 1940.

Our excellent local guide Geir Myrseth even took us inside the torpedo battery where his grandfather had been stationed when the war broke out 😮

Next; open face shrimp sandwich (more about that in the next post)

This summer I had the pleasure of taking a small group of travellers to some of my favourite places in Norway 😎

Actually, this was the first time I led my own small-group tour in Norway 🇳🇴 With a combination of wonderful people, tasty food, interesting sights and sunny weather we had a blast 💥

Here’s a few photos from some highlights in Oslo where we started with spending two full days exploring both on and off the beaten path.

Some of us even enjoyed sauna and jumped into the fjord!

Stay tuned for more photos 🙌🏻

The tour was promoted and sold in collaboration with Guided By (www.guided-by.com)

A road trip is for sure one of the best ways to experience Norway 🇳🇴 🤩

Be it old farms, churches, scenic landscapes, cows and sheep along the way 🐑 just get into the car, drive into the countryside and you’ll have an abundance of amazing views 😍

In these photos I’m driving road fv255 between Vinstra and the mountain village of Skåbu.

Have a nice trip! God tur! 🚗

These days there’s a lot of talk about crowds.. crowded sights, crowded cities, how to avoid crowds?

In Norway I can’t imagine something easier than avoiding crowds. There are vast areas with hardly any people around. You just have to know where to go 😉
