Packing for a family trip with little kids is chaos… so this time I tried something different.

Instead of packing by kid, I packed by activity.

Pjs together.
Swimsuits together.
“Parade day” bag together.

And it made grabbing what we needed (even at 11pm after a late arrival) so much easier.

Two suitcases helped too… one small one came inside for the hotel night, the bigger one lived in the van.

At the Airbnb, one became “clean” and one became “dirty.”

Was it perfect? No. If a kid refuses the outfit you picked, you’ve got less backup. And repeat items get a little confusing to track.

But not having to think about who’s wearing what? Worth it.

Would I do this again? Absolutely.

🐮 Dressing up as a cow was not overly high on my bucket list, but the opportunity to do crafts with my kids and score free Chick-fil-A sure was.

I’ve seen friends in the US post about Cow Appreciation Day for years. So when Canada finally jumped on the trend, I was excited to join in.

The kids had so much fun creating, and then getting spoiled with stickers and stuffies… and of course, pictures with the cow himself. In addition to their food, which they ate ALL OF. 🤩

I was content eating buckets of Chick-fil-A sauce and lemonade. Why is theirs so good?! 🤤

I’m testing out a new packing method on our next trip 👀

Last weekend, I packed the kids each their own packing cube… but since we were getting in late, I also packed a separate cube with all their pjs together. It made getting them dressed for bed at our destination SO easy.

That got me thinking… what if I grouped everything by category instead of packing each kid separately? Then for each day or activity, I could just grab one bag for all three kids instead of digging through three separate bags every time.

What do you think? Have you tried packing this way for a road trip or vacation with your kids? Will it actually make life easier once we’re there?
