Here is a new update regarding transit in the UK:

From now on, Canadians do not need an ETA to transit through the UK if they do not pass through border control (‘airside’ transit).

⚠️ CLARIFICATION REGARDING TRANSITING LONDON AIRPORT:

Visa required, except for nationals of Egypt transiting through London (LHR) or Manchester (MAN) with a confirmed onward ticket for a flight to a third country on the same calendar day. They must:
- have a visa issued by Australia, Canada, New Zealand or USA, and
- stay in the international transit area of the airport, and
- have documents required for the next destination.

For people asking about transiting through the UK, starting Jan 8th, you need to apply for ETA. You can apply online or download the ETA UK app from the link below.
It costs £10 (C$18) to apply. Everyone travelling, including babies and children, needs an ETA.

VISA DESTINATION EGYPT (EG):-
- Nationals of Canada with an e-visa issued before 1 October 2023 remains valid for the duration of its validity period, even if it extends beyond 1 October 2023.
- Nationals of Canada with Egyptian origins travelling as tourists can obtain a visa on arrival. They must have:
- Proof of Egyptian nationality, either valid or expired.
- Proof of Egyptian nationality is validated by:
- Electronic birth certificate or
- Egyptian national ID card (valid or expired) or
- Egyptian passport (valid or expired) or
- A certificate issued by an Egyptian embassy or consulate, certifying that the traveler is an Egyptian citizen.
