This years ice out trip ended up as a Father son trip with my son Aydan and Greg with his son Taylor.
We had four cold nights and five days of unpredictable weather. Good food lots of laughs and we all managed to catch brook trout🎣
Thanks to Greg and Taylor for persevering through the tough portages working our way through the Panhandle making our 40 km trip a memorable experience for all of us👍

Hopefully everyone enjoyed the Family Day Weekend. Yesterday was a beautiful day to visit one of our favorite places. It’s always amazing how you can visit a place at different times of the year and be presented a whole different perspective. We spotted Chaga, otter slides near the open water and the remains of a poor grouse that met its fate😌
Do you have a favorite place that you visit at different times of year??

Third annual snow shoe with Hike Haliburton was another great success. It was another cold day but the sun was shining and everyone had a great appreciation for snow shoeing on fresh untouched snow. Lots of deep snow,
Hot Chaga Tea and delicious cookies donated by Sydney Little of Sydney’s Baking.
More adventures to come for the 2026 season.

We’ve just added a unique winter experience to the Hike Haliburton Winter Edition schedule! Join Allan Bickle of Algonquin Yeti Paddling for a guided snowshoe hike through the forest, where you’ll learn how to identify Chaga in its different stages of growth, and enjoy hot Chaga tea by the fire at the end of the hike.

Allan will also lead a primitive fire-making demonstration using a bow drill, and participants will have the chance to try creating an ember themselves.
