http://www.etsy.com/shop/ShhDollWorks I started Shh Doll Works after a 30 year career in the legal field.

Sewing was something I enjoyed early on and with the arrival of grandchildren found a passion for making fashion doll clothes. I have a focus on detail and the finish of the fashions I make. All fashions are made from new material and in a smoke-free environment. I sincerely hope that you will enjoy the fashions posted as much as I have had making them. It was time I did a pantsuit. I opted for wide-legged trousers with vest in a pale pinkish-tan colour in a light wool blend. I had trouble picking a colour for the blouse, and finally settled on navy blue. The blouse gave me some trouble, this time it was the inset sleeve. The first sleeve went in easily, but for some reason I had trouble sewing in the other sleeve. Thank gawd for my seam ripper as it was put to repeated use! The purse is made with Ultra Suede - a perfect fabric for a purse at this scale!

I very much enjoyed shirring the previous yellow dress, so of course, I did it again. This gingham fabric has a soft lustre that doesn't translate in the photos. Still, this dress does exclaim SPRING!

"Island Holiday" sundress, hat and tote. I used a shirring technique to make the bodice of this little, and otherwise simple sundress. Shirring is a gathering method of sewing multiple rows of parallel stitching using elastic thread in the sewing machine bobbin, with regular thread through the machine's needle. It creates a very stretchy fabric. It took me a few tries to get this right (and some math). Despite the "fits and starts" to get what I wanted, I had a lot of fun making this fashion. Alas, the bottle of Champagne was not included with the sale 🥂

This is my second Alice in Wonderland based fashion. The hat, made from cardstock and adhesive vinyl, was a lot of fun to make. This is my first time using adhesive vinyl and was easier than I first thought. I used my Scan 'n Cut machine to cut the cardstock and the vinyl making the job mostly a breeze! For the pictures I pulled together a bunch of little "Wonderland" type items, then ended up cropping most of those items out of the photos! Plus items kept falling off and/or falling over during the photoshoot. Very frustrating! I called this set "Go Ask Alice".

I just had to do another peignoir set. And I had in mind to do it all in white. I did add pink piping around the accompanying white satin pillow. I called this set "Le Trousseau".

I called this set "Checking In". A little black and white gingham dress with a bustier bodice. Wide-brimmed black hats, in my opinion, can look too overbearing. Also, they cast quite a shadow on the doll's face, so I like to line black linen hats with a fabric matching the dress. But the gingham fabric was too much under the hat, so I opted for a white and black polka-dot fabric under the hat. What do you think?

Another peignoir set, this time in Barbie pink with a modern-ish floral print robe. I listed this set yesterday and the black and yellow set a week ago (pics in the post below), neither set has sold, which is unusual for me. I have even marked them down by $15 USD. The majority of my clients are in the USA, and my doll fashions are currently tariff free (through CUSMA/USMCA) but I'm wondering if the overall effect of tariffs on Americans is at least part of the cause of the slow-down of sales. For any Americans reading this I would appreciate your feedback. That aside, I really enjoyed making these latest two sets, and I sew fashion doll clothes mainly to please myself 😊 . Despite slow sales, I'm already planning a fully white peignoir set.

This is a peignoir set I have done about 4 times between 2017 and 2023, and I sold three of those sets and kept one for myself. I decided to return again to this set. I called this one "Night Cat". It included the negligee, robe, head scarf and I threw in a black satin pillow.

I called this fashion "Northern Fire". The off-the-shoulder dress is made from beautiful raw silk. It is accessorized with a self-belt with rhinestone buckle and a very dark brown faux fur stole. The purse is made from glitter vinyl and finished with a red bejeweled ornament.

This set, "Nights in White Satin" (with thanks to the Moody Blues) is made from, you guessed it, white satin! The red halter-top blouse is made from raw silk. All pieces are lined. I added an Ultrasuede two-tone purse to this set.
I got a new phone for Christmas and as it has a very good camera, my photographer (hubby) decided to start migrating to the phone for my pics. However, it's a learning experience and a different procedure than using the old DSL (DSLR?) camera with memory cards.
