🇮🇹 Day 4 — Cinque Terre! ❤️
This will be one of those days that I’ll remember for a very long time.
We arrived in Livorno, Italy, in the Tuscan region and set off on a 9½-hour adventure to Cinque Terre — “The Five Lands.” And WOW… what a day!
Cinque Terre is made up of five incredibly beautiful villages scattered along about 18 km of rugged Ligurian coastline:
🌊 Monterosso al Mare
🌊 Vernazza
🌊 Corniglia - Great food but village not worth the stop
🌊 Manarola - AMAZING MUST GO.
🌊 Riomaggiore
These villages seem to almost tumble down the cliffs toward the sea, with colourful homes, tiny harbours, steep hillsides and those wonderful winding cobblestone streets that make you feel like you’ve stepped into another world.
The area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for the remarkable way generations of people shaped the steep landscape into terraces for growing grapes and olives, supported by thousands of kilometres of dry-stone walls.
And let me tell you… my little travel scooter was the star of the day! 😂
With all of the cobblestones, uneven walkways and hills, I wasn’t sure how easy this day would be for me. But my scooter handled it beautifully!
It actually became a bit of a conversation starter throughout the day. People were amazed at how quickly it folds up and how easily I could manoeuvre it through the streets. And honestly, I was just thrilled that I could be there and experience it all. ❤️
Which brings me to something a little more personal…
If you’ve been thinking, “I’d love to travel, but my mobility issues make it impossible,” please don’t automatically count yourself out.
Since my injury in January, I’ve had to completely rethink how I travel. I’m still recovering, and there are definitely days when my mobility is challenging — but my adventurous spirit refuses to stay home! 😂
Having the right travel scooter has made such a difference for me. I’ve been able to explore these incredible destinations, navigate places I never thought I could manage, and continue seeing the world while I recover.
So if mobility has been holding you back, reach out to me. I’d be more than happy to share what I’ve learned and what has worked for me. ❤️
And now… back to Cinque Terre! 🇮🇹
We wandered through little souvenir shops, explored the narrow streets and even discovered a pizzeria tucked underneath the main shopping street and built right into the cliff! 🍕
Fresh Margherita pizza in a little hidden spot in Cinque Terre… does it get any better?
Well… maybe it does. 😂
Because, of course, I found gelato. 🍦
Today’s flavours?
🌿 Fresh basil
💚 Pistachio
And hands down, the pistachio won!
Standing there with a gelato in my hand, looking out at those beautiful Italian villages perched along the cliffs, I had one of those moments where you stop and think…
“Can you imagine waking up and having THIS as your day?” ❤️
Walking through these villages.
Stopping for pizza.
Finding little shops.
Eating gelato.
Looking out over the Mediterranean.
These are the moments that remind me exactly why I love to travel. 🌎✈️🛳️
And why I’m determined to keep doing it. ❤️
Another unforgettable day on our Regent Seven Seas Navigator adventure — and I have a feeling the memories from this one are going to stay with me for a very long time. 🇮🇹✨
