Day 7 – Montecatini Terme 💛

Today is our final day in Montecatini Terme, and it was exactly what it needed to be—slow, easy, and completely relaxed.
Some of us headed out on an optional marble excursion, while others stayed in town and explored on foot. A few of us, myself included, made our way up the funicular… and wow—there truly are no words. The views on the way up, and especially from the top in Montecatini Alto, were absolutely jaw-dropping.

Every single day here in Tuscany, I’ve found myself in awe of the natural beauty surrounding us. It’s something that stays with you long after you’ve seen it.

While up in Montecatini Alto, we wandered through charming little shops, stopped for lunch, and simply took it all in. Halfway through today, I realized I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve felt such deep and genuine appreciation for my life.

I am so incredibly thankful to have met Muriel Cryderman—truly a beautiful person, inside and out. Through her, I’ve been introduced to so many genuinely wonderful people, and that in itself is such a gift.
One lovely couple even surprised me with a hand fan, which I absolutely adore. 💛 It was so thoughtful and deeply appreciated… and perfect timing too, because my Barcelona fan officially retired after some very enthusiastic use 😂

Another moment that truly touched my heart was when one of the ladies in our group gave me a hug and shared how much she’s been enjoying this trip. She mentioned that even though she’s travelling solo, she has never once felt alone. She’s felt completely included—part of something special—from the very beginning. There’s this unspoken sense that everyone is looking out for one another, and it’s created such a warm, supportive, and connected group.
There is just so much positive energy surrounding this group… so much happiness, connection, and genuine joy. It’s something you can feel in every conversation, every shared laugh, every moment together. I truly feel so incredibly blessed. 💛

We’ve come to the end of the main tour, and tomorrow we head out to Sorrento to explore the Amalfi Coast and Capri—another beautiful chapter to look forward to.

This past week has given me so many moments of appreciation… more than I can count. And today, as I reflect, I honestly struggle to put into words the depth of gratitude, joy, and happiness I feel. To witness how much everyone is enjoying themselves… to see the connections, the laughter, and the shared experiences—it fills my heart in a way that words can’t fully capture.
We’re looking forward to our farewell dinner tonight here in Montecatini Terme, a time to celebrate this incredible week together before we head out tomorrow morning.

What an incredible and beautiful group of people to experience our very first (and definitely not last!) Sip, Savour & Stretch

My heart is so full. 💛

Bolgheri & the Etruscan Coast – A Day of Views, Wine & Little Moments

Today was one of our longer travel days—but honestly, it became part of the magic.
We spent about an hour and a half each way winding through the Tuscan countryside, taking in breathtaking views the entire time. Rolling vineyards, golden fields, and rustic homes passed by as the landscape unfolded—every turn more beautiful than the last.
Our first stop was just outside Castagneto Carducci, where we visited La Regola winery—and wow… it was wonderful!!! 🍷
The setting, the wines, the atmosphere… everything came together so perfectly. Surrounded by countryside, every sip felt like a reflection of the land itself.

We then made our way into Castagneto Carducci, a hilltop town that felt unique, authentic, and full of character. Narrow stone streets, sweeping views of the Etruscan Coast, and that peaceful rhythm of life made it such an enjoyable stop.
Here we enjoyed a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a taste of the perfect sweet finish.

From there, we continued on to Bolgheri, arriving along the stunning cypress-lined Viale dei Cipressi—a picture-perfect entrance into this charming little village.

And Bolgheri itself is exactly that—small, quaint, and full of charm. The kind of place where you slow down and simply enjoy the moment.
Sometimes, it’s the little moments that stay with you the most…

Scott and I stopped for an espresso with pistachio cream, and oh my goodness—sooooo delicious!! ☕💚 A simple treat, but one we won’t forget anytime soon.

To end off the day, Scott and I stayed back and enjoyed a little date night, soaking in the quiet beauty of Tuscany together. Meanwhile, others in our group attended the opera and couldn’t stop talking about how incredible it was. And of course, there was a fun highlight—one of our gentlemen was even tossed a rose at the end of the performance! 🌹

✨ Day 6 takeaway: It’s the blend of shared experiences and personal moments that makes travel truly unforgettable.

Lucca – A Hidden Gem Wrapped in History
Wow… wow… WOW. 💛
Lucca is truly a stunning little gem of a city.
From the moment we arrived, there was a feeling in the air—peaceful, timeless, and quietly captivating. Everything about Lucca invites you to slow down and simply take it all in.

We spent the day exploring this beautiful city within its perfectly preserved Renaissance walls, where every step along the cobblestone streets felt like walking through layers of history. The soft hum of conversation from locals, the clinking of cafĂŠ cups, and the aroma of fresh espresso drifting through the air created such a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Our visit included a stop at the Palazzo Mansi National Museum, where stunning baroque architecture, intricate tapestries, and artwork tell the story of Lucca’s rich cultural past. The textures, colours, and craftsmanship inside were nothing short of breathtaking.

We then continued on a guided walking tour through the Old Town, wandering past:
• Elegant piazzas lined with cafés and shops
• Historic buildings with centuries of stories tucked inside their walls
• The impressive city walls themselves, still standing strong and framing the entire city

One of the most incredible moments was visiting a church dating all the way back to the 4th century, with Roman remains beneath it—a powerful reminder of just how deep the history runs here. Today, it serves as a museum and event space, beautifully blending ancient and modern.
The day also included a lively café‑crawl style brunch, where we sampled local bites along the way before sitting down to enjoy a beautifully prepared main course at a local restaurant—each dish full of fresh, simple Tuscan flavour.

We finished our visit at the stunning Palazzo Pfanner, where the ornamental gardens were perfectly manicured and peaceful, and the grand arched ceilings inside added a sense of elegance and grandeur to the experience.
What made Lucca so special wasn’t just what we saw—it was how it felt:
• The gentle rhythm of daily life
• The warmth of the people
• The way history and modern life exist so effortlessly together

✨ Day 5 takeaway: Sometimes the most unforgettable places aren’t the biggest or busiest—they’re the ones that quietly capture your heart.

Part 2: Tuscan Cooking Experience at a Rustic Farmhouse

Omg… what an incredible afternoon and evening!!! 💛
We made our way to a rustic farmhouse in the Tuscan countryside, and from the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into the heart of authentic Italy. The setting was warm, welcoming, and surrounded by the natural beauty of the region—exactly what you imagine when you think of Tuscany.

We explored the property, venturing into the orchard and greenhouse. Then it was time to roll up our sleeves…
This wasn’t just a meal—it was a hands-on cooking experience filled with laughter, teamwork, and unforgettable moments:
• Chopping fresh, ripe tomatoes and onions for bruschetta
• Preparing vegetables for a hearty Tuscan soup—more like a rich, comforting stew
• Learning about some of Italy’s most loved and traditional ingredients along the way
Everything was incredibly fresh, and you could taste that in every bite—simple ingredients coming together to create something truly delicious.
But what made it so special wasn’t just the food… it was the experience:
• Tons of laughs
• Working side by side with our group
• That joyful energy that comes from creating something together
As the evening unfolded, we sat down to enjoy the delicious dinner we had prepared ourselves, surrounded by our fellow travellers and the peaceful beauty of the Tuscan countryside.

To top it all off, we left with certificates and a couple of recipes, so we can bring a taste of Tuscany back home with us 🧡

✨ Day 4 takeaway (Part 2): The most memorable travel experiences aren’t just about what you see—they’re about what you do, what you feel, and who you share it with.

Day 4 🇮🇹✨
Slow Tuscany Morning & Free Time

Today offered something just as valuable as all of our guided experiences so far—time to slow down and truly live like a local in Tuscany.
We began the morning with our complimentary breakfast, enjoying the now-familiar spread of fresh pastries, fruit, and local delights. There’s something so comforting about starting the day this way—simple, fresh, and unhurried.
Afterward, Scott and I set out for a morning stroll through town, soaking in the everyday rhythm of life here. We wandered our way to a local supermarket, picking up a few snacks and treats to bring home—the kind you won’t find anywhere else, and that always carry a little piece of the destination with them.
Along the way, we explored small shops and local vendors, each one offering something unique—whether it was handmade goods, local specialties, or simply a warm smile and a glimpse into daily Tuscan life.
Back at the hotel, we embraced something we often forget to do—rest. A short nap, some quiet reading time… the perfect way to recharge and reflect on everything we’ve experienced so far.
Meanwhile, others in our group spent their free time in their own way:
• Some continued exploring the area on foot, discovering hidden corners and local gems
• Others took the opportunity to visit Pisa for the morning, adding another iconic Italian destination to their journey

✨ Day 4 takeaway (Part 1): Travel isn’t always about doing more—it’s about taking the time to savour where you are.

Exploring the Heart of Chianti

Today we ventured into one of Tuscany’s most iconic regions—the Chianti Valley, nestled beautifully between Florence and Siena and celebrated for its exceptional wines dating back to the 13th century.
Our journey took us to the charming village of Greve, where we had time to explore at a relaxed pace and soak in the local atmosphere. There’s something so special about these smaller towns—every corner feels authentic, welcoming, and full of history.

Lunch was a true highlight—enjoyed at a local wine shop, where we experienced the flavours of the region in a way that felt both simple and unforgettable. Fresh ingredients, regional specialties, and of course… incredible wine.

The day continued with a visit to a historic Tuscan estate—Tenute Di Nozzole, known for its prestigious Chianti wine production. Walking through the vineyards and learning about their craft brought everything we’ve been experiencing together—tradition, land, and passion.

Sip, Savour & Stretch 2026 🇮🇹🍷

Many of us took part in an optional excursion to a local Tuscan vineyard and farm, and it was truly something special.
We had the opportunity to meet and speak with the owners of the farm, hearing firsthand about their passion for what they do. Everything is produced right on site—from their beautiful wines to their own olive oil—a true reflection of Tuscan tradition and craftsmanship.
We were then treated to a typical Tuscan dinner, and it was absolutely delicious. Every dish felt authentic, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared—highlighting the simple, high-quality ingredients this region is known for.
What made the experience even more magical was the setting. From the moment we arrived, and throughout dinner, we couldn’t help but feel like we had stepped into a movie scene—the very landscapes that made Under the Tuscan Sun so unforgettable.
An evening filled with incredible food, local stories, and breathtaking views—this is Tuscany at its finest ✨

Sip, Savour & Stretch 2026 – Day 2 Recap 🇮🇹✨

First Official Day of the Main Tour
After arriving in Florence yesterday, today marked our first full day of the Sip, Savour & Stretch experience—and what a way to begin.

We started the day with a beautiful breakfast at the hotel, included with our stay. A spread of fresh pastries, sweets, yogurt, and fruit welcomed us, but what truly stood out were the tomatoes—so incredibly fresh and bursting with flavour. It’s immediately clear that food here is different—less processed, no preservatives, just simple, high-quality ingredients grown locally.

As we began to learn more about Tuscan cuisine, a few key insights stood out:
• Spelt (farro) is a staple grain in the region, widely grown and used in traditional dishes
• While we often associate Italy with olive oil, here it’s used primarily for finishing and enhancing dishes, not always for cooking
• Sunflower oil is more commonly used in the cooking process
We also explored the world of olive oil, learning there are three main types:
• Regular olive oil
• Virgin olive oil
• Extra virgin olive oil

Though olive oil is central to daily life in Tuscany, regional differences were fascinating to discover. In the cooler mountain areas, olive trees are less abundant, so:
• Butter is used more frequently in cooking
• Dairy plays a larger role due to cattle farming
Speaking of cattle, we also learned about the renowned Chianina beef, raised in the Chiana Valley—a prized breed known for its quality and used in traditional dishes like Bistecca alla Fiorentina.

Our day continued with a cultural highlight—a visit to the Leonardo da Vinci Museum, adding an inspiring historical dimension to our journey through Tuscany.
From there, we headed to Montecatini for a special visit to a local bakery. This wasn’t just any bakery—it’s a fourth-generation family business, founded in 1911. We enjoyed a tasting that truly reflected tradition, craftsmanship, and the pride of passing recipes down through generations.

Lunch was nothing short of spectacular—a special dining experience in the Chianti Valley, surrounded by the landscapes that produce some of the region’s most iconic flavours.

And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, we returned to the hotel and wrapped it all together with a grounding yoga session led by Muriel Cryderman—the perfect way to relax, reflect, and reconnect after such a full and enriching day.

Day 2 takeaway: Tuscany isn’t just about food—it’s about connection to the land, the seasons, and tradition. Every bite, every experience tells a story.
