PLEASE NOTE IF HEADING TO UK :

Beginning on January 8, 2025, Canadian travellers visiting or transiting through the United Kingdom will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) prior to their trip. Canadian travellers will be able to apply for an ETA starting on November 27, 2024.

The United Kingdom Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is an advance travel permission required from foreign nationals who intend to visit or transit the United Kingdom without a visa. An ETA will be required for anyone planning to visit the U.K. visa-free, but will not be required for British or Irish passport holders.

The ETA will be linked to the traveller’s passport and will cost 10 British pounds. It will permit multiple trips to the U.K. for stays of up to six months at a time over two years or until the holder's passport expires, whichever is sooner. If you get a new passport, you will need to apply for a new ETA.

Once you apply, you will receive an email confirming that you have an ETA. It generally takes 3 business days to receive a decision. Travellers will still need to see a Border Force officer to enter the UK and an ETA does not guarantee entry to the UK.

Air Canada says it has reached a tentative, four-year collective agreement with the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), representing more than 5,200 pilots at Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge.

For anyone travelling to Mexico, please be aware of this policy:

Mexico - Import tax for multiple electronic devices
There are reports of travellers to Cancun being charged a fee of MXP 3,600 for bringing multiple electronic devices on vacation.
The Govt. of Mexico does limit what can be brought into the country tax-free and that information can be found on the website below. Any items over and above this list, such as someone bringing a laptop and a tablet, can be subject to import duty. While the reports are of this happening in Cancun, it can be applied to any destination within Mexico.
Ci******es are another thing you have to be VERY careful about!

WestJet: flight cancellations post-hailstorm to continue for “foreseeable future”
In an update posted Wednesday (Aug 14), the carrier revealed that it will continue issuing “proactive cancellations for the foreseeable future” as it works to repair its planes and safely return them to service.

WestJet says it is currently cancelling an average of 50 flights per day. However, it anticipates fewer cancellations will be required as aircraft return to the skies in a phased approach.

As many of you know, I am a travel consultant. When booking flights for my clients I run into SO much intentionally misleading information on airline web sites. I saw this tonight and it makes me so angry that AC tries to upsell people by throwing incorrect information in their face when they are trying to make a booking!

Please see photos below- This came up when booking a flight from Halifax to London. When you first look at the fares, it shows you that the Standard fare INCLUDES 1 checked bag, but when you click that fare, the next box pops up trying to get you to upgrade your fare. It[s telling you that a checked bag is NOT included with the Standard fare, but it is with the Comfort fare for $490. more!
It also says that a seat with extra space is included with the Comfort fare- It is NOT!
Everyone thinks that booking flights is "simple"- believe me, it is not and you can easily be mislead. Please book with an experienced travel agent who can steer you in the right direction and make sure you are getting what you think you are for the fare paid.

New CDC Requirements for Dogs Entering the U.S. from Canada must meet new CDC requirements:

Starting August 1, 2024, all dogs entering the U.S. from Canada must meet new CDC requirements:

--Be at least 6 months old
-Have an ISO-compliant or universally readable microchip. If unsure, contact the microchip manufacturer or provide your own scanner.
-Obtain a CDC Dog Import Form receipt for each dog and entry, submitted through the CDC website.
-Appear healthy upon arrival.
-Have an export document signed by a Canadian licensed veterinarian.
-Provide additional documentation depending on rabies vaccination status and travel history in the past 6 months.

Failure to meet these requirements may result in the dog being denied entry and returned at the owner's expense. Further details are available here:
