Welcome to Rediscover Nova Scotia. 💙

This is about finding more fun, creativity and meaning in the places and moments already around us.

Around here, you’ll find:

Adventure Sparks for simple ways to explore.
Creative Escapes for making, playing and trying something new.
Memory Keepers for noticing and saving the moments that matter.
Seasonal Adventures for enjoying what each season brings.
Nova Scotia Adventures for getting out and loving where you live.

You don’t need a big trip or a complicated plan.

Sometimes all it takes is a new idea, a familiar place and a reason to look a little closer.

Simple ideas. Local places. Lasting memories.

This weekend, try something surprisingly simple.

Drive, bike, or walk past your usual destination... then stop somewhere you've never stopped before.

It might be:
📍 A roadside lookout
🌊 A quiet beach access
🌲 A short nature trail
🛶 A small park
🏘 A little community you've only ever driven through

This little spot wasn't on our itinerary. Amanda and I simply decided to pull over and eat lunch here one day. It turned into one of those places we'll always remember.

You don't need a big plan to have a memorable adventure.

Sometimes curiosity is enough.

💬 Have you ever stopped somewhere on a whim that turned into a favourite memory? We'd love to hear about it, or share a photo in the comments!

How often do we walk the same trail, sidewalk, or park without really seeing it?

On your next walk, slow down just a little and see if you can spot these five tiny details:

🍃 A leaf with interesting texture
🌿 Moss growing somewhere unexpected
🪨 A rock with unusual colours or patterns
🕸 A spider web catching the light
🌱 Tiny plants growing beneath your feet

Adventure doesn't always mean going farther.
Sometimes it simply means paying closer attention.

💬 Which of these do you think you'll notice first? Or tell us something unexpected you've spotted on a recent walk.

Sometimes the best adventures aren't the ones you plan weeks in advance.

This weekend, pick one place you've never stopped before.

Maybe it's that trail you've driven past a hundred times. A tiny beach at the end of a side road. A lookout you've always meant to visit. Or a café in a small town you've never explored.

You don't have to travel far to discover something new.

Nova Scotia is full of places waiting to surprise us. We just have to slow down long enough to notice them.

Wherever you end up, I hope you find something that makes you smile.

The next day called for a road trip! 🚗

Mom, my sister, my little guy and I headed to the South Shore to finally visit Cosby's Concrete Creations Garden in Liverpool—a place we've all wanted to see for years.

It somehow managed to exceed every expectation.

The sculptures are absolutely incredible. You can really see the artist's understanding of the human body in every piece. And yes... the dragon everyone talks about did not disappoint! There were actually three dragon sculptures, and they were amazing. 🐉

The winding garden paths, filled with beautiful and unusual plants, lead you through the trees to the newest work in progress. Judging by everything else on the property, it's going to be another masterpiece.

Best of all, admission is by donation (cash or e-transfer), making it an easy way to support an incredibly talented local artist.

Afterward, we stopped at Lanes Privateer Inn Restaurant for lunch, where I enjoyed a delicious lobster roll. 🦞

And because no summer trip to Nova Scotia's South Shore feels complete without visiting the ocean, we finished the day at Beach Meadows Beach. The sunshine, soft sand, and cool ocean breeze were the perfect ending. We even waded in up to our knees! It was still a little chilly for swimming, but definitely warmer than Sandy Cove Beach in Digby.

It was one of those simple summer days that reminds you just how much there is to discover right here in Nova Scotia. ❤️

🇨🇦 Canada Day was a little different for us this year—we stayed close to home and celebrated right here in Middleton.

The pirate-themed parade was so much fun! Everyone really embraced the theme, and one float even fired a cannon (don't worry... just for show! 🏴‍☠️💥).

After the parade, we walked up to the Macdonald Museum for the opening ceremonies. It was our first visit (our little guy's second—he had already been with Oma a few days earlier!).

We enjoyed exploring the exhibits, voting for our favourite pieces in the local artists' gallery, and checking out the special pirate display.

One of my favourite discoveries? Learning that we have flying squirrels in Nova Scotia! I had no idea. 🐿️

Sometimes the best adventures are the ones waiting in your own hometown. ❤️

It's been a busy week, so here's a little catch-up!

Last Saturday, I did the first test run of something I've been quietly working on... 👀

This summer, I'll be launching a Rediscover Nova Scotia Scavenger Hunt!

The test group had an absolute blast. Even the people who originally said they were just going to watch ended up joining in—and they were the team that won the Best Photo Challenge! 📸🏆

That was exactly what I was hoping for. The scavenger hunt isn't about racing from place to place—it's about exploring, laughing, noticing the little things, and making memories along the way.

There are still a few details to finish, but I couldn't keep it a secret any longer. Consider this your official sneak peek!

Stay tuned... more details (and your chance to join the adventure) are coming soon. 🧭✨
