This one hurts a little.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Cuba. I love the people, the beaches, the music, the warmth, the simplicity — the way Cuba somehow feels like home even when you’re just visiting.

But right now, Cuba is going through a really hard season. And as much as I love sending people there, I also have to be honest about what travel there looks like right now.

Cuba is dealing with serious shortages of fuel, food, medicine, and basic goods. The power grid has been unstable, with repeated major blackouts. Fuel shortages are affecting daily life, transportation, water systems, and overall infrastructure.

And now, with major hotel brands like Blue Diamond/Royalton pulling out and Iberostar reportedly scaling back management of multiple properties.

And that makes me genuinely sad.
Because this is not me saying “don’t love Cuba.”
I do love Cuba. Deeply.

Cubans are not the architects of this situation. They are resilient, creative, warm, and deeply hospitable — they always have been. But they are also navigating one of the most difficult periods in their country’s modern history.

My job is not just to sell a vacation. My job is to protect your vacation investment, your expectations, your experience, and your peace of mind.

And the honest truth is: right now, Cuba cannot reliably deliver the holiday experience many travellers deserve or expect.
