These little guys came all the way from Peru to me.
And the more I learned about them, the more I realized they’re not just cute little souvenirs.
Alpaca fibre has been part of Andean textile traditions for generations. In the Cusco region, artisans have passed down techniques for spinning, weaving and working with alpaca fibre, keeping those skills alive from one generation to the next.
That’s what I love about handmade pieces like these.
You’re not just getting something that was made in Peru. You’re supporting the people who continue to practice these crafts, and helping traditional Peruvian artistry find its way into homes around the world.
started in 2011 with just five handmade alpaca teddy bears, one artisan in Cusco, an old computer and a lot of determination.
And the name says it all: “love for my culture, for the Incas.”
A tiny alpaca, sure.
But there’s a pretty big story behind him.
