The Norton Fossil Forest was discovered during the widening of Highway 1 (around Moosehorn Creek). It is the oldest fossil forest in Canada and one of the largest, with 700 fossilized trees. Many of these trees had a scaly appearance — which resulted in the name "Lepidodendropsis" — and tall stems because of the tropical climate 350 million years ago. Some of these fossils can be found right here at the Valley Waters Fossil Centre!

The Belleisle Creek No. 2 Covered Bridge was built in 1903. This makes it one of the first covered bridges in the province to be constructed!

To learn more about Valley Waters covered bridges, come to the Valley Waters Visitor Information Centre at 10 Municipal St, Norton, NB. We're open every weekday from 9-4:30!

The Valley Waters Visitor Information Centre is looking for local vendors willing to sell art or crafts at our Info Centre.
