Hey everyone, meet Riker the Angora bunny! Posted on my Adventures with Yarn blog.

Everyone, meet Riker! Riker is my first official fiber animal joining the farm (hence his name, as he’s Number One, and so is William T. Riker). He’s an English angora buck who’s been described as a lilac cream tort. ...

Here are some pictures from this past weekend of cleaning.

Last weekend was the first of many future cleaning and reno weekends at my new farm house. The time was spent taking care of the low hanging fruits, the simple jobs that could be done by whoever wanted to do them. It was pretty much a free-for-all, pick what you want to do and do it!

And now for something different from dead sheep. Here are some nice photos I've taken of the house and area over the past few days.

Ugh, enough posts about dead sheep! Here’s some nice photos of the house and surrounding areas, taken in the past few days.

Well I now know what to do with a dead sheep. I took the easy option and paid a man to get rid of them, that way the coyotes won't have a free meal all winter long.

There are many ways of dealing with dead animals. You can bury them, burn them, compost them, leave them in the forest to be munched on by other animals, et cetera. Unfortunately none of those were options – I have no tools, not a lot of time, and the ground is frozen solid. ...

We went up to visit the house and explore the property, and were met with our first rural farming experience: coyote prints and deadstock. Anyone know what to do with a dead sheep? How about four?

We went up to visit the house today and take a walk around the property. It’s one empty place! It’ll be rare to ever see it as quiet again as it is now. We actually stood out in the fields listening to nothing but the wind. ...

We met Spirit the maremma guardian dog yesterday, read all about it :)

I’d just like to take a minute out to say how excited I am to get on my farmland! I mean, this is plainly obvious to anyone who talks to me, or those who come with me on my various farm field trips to scout out animals etc. ...

Made a quick entry on the Happy Panda blog about the Three Sisters gardening method, have you ever heard of it?

It’s planning time! We are working on our garden plan for this coming year, thinking about how to structure the gardens and what we want to plant in them.

My internet has been acting really strange for the past while. It’s effectively stopped me from being able to upload pictures as I normally do, which makes me not remember to take pictures, which makes me not want to blog cause I love sharing a photo as well as my words with all of you.

My heritage seeds came in yesterday! In light of this I made a blog entry showing them off and explaining what exactly a heritage seed is.

My heritage seed order from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds came in the mail today! Happy times are close by, my friends. I saw some adorable and inexpensive mini greenhouse trays and plastic plant holders ...

Here's a blog post on my yarn blog that goes into more details about the Shetland breed of sheep.

In anticipation of moving into my farm & house at the end of this month, I made contact with a local farmer who was selling her Shetland sheep bunch, two pregnant ewes and their babydaddy Franklin. Here’s a picture of them (ignoring the gal on the right, who isn’t coming along):

Guess who's coming to the farm in March? It's Franklin and his ladies!

Guess who's coming to the farm in March? It's Franklin and his ladies!

I promise I’m not rushing into the farm life too much… I mean, what kind of a farm would it be without animals? I’m not rushing in, I’m just making it more farm-like.

Two new blog posts this weekend, a review about a goat-raising book, and a post at my other blog about my new and rare spinning wheel!

Today’s blog post is at Adventures with Yarn. I talk about my newest spinning wheel purchase, the John Bryce wheel pictured above. What a peculiar device!
