This time last week, we put the final touches on everything before welcoming TBEX Summit attendees to the opening party at Brewhalla. From there, we hit the ground running with two days packed with sessions, networking, and exploring Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo.⁠

It's easy to think people return to conferences because of the speakers or the destinations... and, they may.

Ask a TBEX veteran, though, and you'll usually hear a different answer.
They come back because every year feels like reconnecting with friends who understand this industry. They know they'll leave with fresh ideas, new perspectives, and conversations that continue long after the closing session.

Every event welcomes first-time attendees, but it never takes long before they feel like part of the community. That's one of the things that makes TBEX different.

You know The Shoals. You just might not KNOW that you know The Shoals.

Behind some of the music that became the soundtrack to our lives is a little corner of Alabama and a group of musicians who created a sound the world couldn't get enough of.

And in November 2027, the TBEX community isn't just going to hear about it. We're going where it happened... and continues to happen.

The studios are still here.
The stories are still here.
And, most importantly, the music never really left.

Fargo-Moorhead understood the assignment. 💚

Delicious food? ✔️
Walkable downtown with plenty to discover? ✔️
Local art, history & personality at every turn? ✔️
A TBEX welcome that made it very clear we’d arrived? ✔️✔️✔️

But the thing you can’t quite capture in a checklist (or even in these photos) is how it feels when a community is genuinely excited to have you there.

From the little details on the sidewalks to seeing “Welcome TBEX” glowing on the Fargo Theatre marquee, we felt welcomed, celebrated and invited to experience this place rather than simply visit it.

That takes more than good event planning. It takes a community of people who are proud of where they live and eager to share it.

Thank you, Visit Fargo-Moorhead, for opening your doors, telling us your stories, feeding us very well 😉 and reminding us what great destination hospitality looks like.

Sometimes the best tourism stories start with someone having a slightly crazy dream.

Last night, the City of Moorhead welcomed TBEX speakers and sponsors to the Hjemkomst Center, where we discovered two of them: Moorhead educator Robert Asp, who built a Viking ship that ultimately sailed to Norway, and woodcarver Guy Paulson, who spent years creating the stunning full-scale Hopperstad Stave Church replica.

Our guide, James, brought both stories to life with the kind of knowledge and passion you hope to find when you travel.

And maybe bringing TBEX to Visit Fargo-Moorhead belongs in the crazy-dream category, too. Hundreds of travel storytellers coming to experience this community and share its stories with the world? We’re pretty glad Visit Fargo-Moorhead dreamed that one up.

Pre-BEX tours are officially out exploring Fargo… and this is exactly why we build these experiences into TBEX.

Our creators are taking time away from already-busy schedules to come learn, connect and sharpen their craft. So we also want to give them something worth creating about.

Today, among other things, that means getting hands-on making tiny prints, discovering a seriously fun local space, playing a little pinball and grabbing a delicious Fargo lunch from The Bird at Brewhalla.

For our hosts, these tours put creators right inside the places, businesses and stories that make a destination distinctive. For our attendees, they’re a chance to experience the destination instead of simply hearing about it and head into the conference with fresh stories, photos, video and plenty of inspiration already underway.

That’s the magic of Pre-BEX: we learn the destination by experiencing it.

And Fargo, we’re just getting started.

It’s official: TBEX is on the ground in Fargo! 🙌

And if that marquee isn’t the perfect welcome, we don’t know what is.

We’re ready for a week of undiscovered stories, “I had no idea!” revelations, unexpected experiences and a whole lot of local love for the people and places that make Fargo, Fargo.

That’s one of our favorite things about TBEX. We don’t just come to a destination. We get curious about it. We meet the people who know its stories best, wander beyond the obvious and discover the things we’ll still be talking about long after we leave.

Fargo, we’re here. And we can’t wait to see what you’ve got. ❤️
