• Frequent blackouts — planned and unplanned outages can last more than 24 hours. 
• Basic services like running water, refrigeration, lighting, and taxis/public transport may be limited or unreliable. 
• Petty crime and scams targeting tourists (like theft or overcharging). 
• Travel logistics can be unpredictable, and the situation could deteriorate quickly, potentially disrupting flight availability on short notice.

My absolute favourite all inclusive in the Riviera Maya is Sandos Playacar. For soo many reasons.

🛏️ The rooms are cute and clean. Theres also bunk beds so kids don’t have to share a bed

🍲 The buffet is massive no one is going hungry

🏝️ The beach is beyond beautiful 

🎥 The nightly shows are amazing

🧁 There’s a cupcake cafe with the best coffee and smoothies

🏊 multiple pools

⛑️ It’s within a gated community so it feels extra safe

🫏 There’s also a donkey ! Who could not love a cute jackass?
