This Monet exhibition will be worth making a special trip to Paris or at least a quick layover if you are going to be in Europe.
A major exhibition dedicated to Claude Monet will open in Paris in late 2026.
Titled “Monet and Time,” the show will take place at the Musée de l’Orangerie from September 30, 2026, to March 29, 2027. It marks 100 years since Monet’s death.
The exhibition will bring together around 40 paintings, mainly from the Musée d’Orsay and the Marmottan Monet Museum, along with loans from other collections in France and abroad.
Instead of presenting Monet’s work in chronological order, the exhibition focuses on a central idea: how he captured light and change over time.
Throughout his career, Monet painted the same subjects repeatedly—such as haystacks, the Rouen Cathedral, and the Seine—to show how light and atmosphere shift throughout the day and across seasons.
This approach eventually led to his most famous works, the Water Lilies, which are permanently displayed at the Orangerie. These large panels were designed to surround visitors and create a continuous visual experience.
The exhibition will also include a virtual reality installation, allowing visitors to explore the landscapes that inspired Monet, including the Seine and his garden in Giverny.
With both iconic works and immersive elements, the exhibition aims to offer a new perspective on one of France’s most well-known artists.
