Grownup Travels

Grownup Travels 2025 WINNER Best Self-Published Travel Website (Travel Media Association of Canada)
Real humans providing information & inspiration for travellers 50+.

No kids. No backpacks. No bus tours. You've left the backpacking and hostels behind, but you’re not a pom-pom-following bus tourist either. You still want the travel adventure, just minus the shared bathroom. Grownup Travels looks for adventures with rough edges but soft landings, accommodations that are unique or boutique (not necessarily chic!) and the kind of travel where you bring home stories, not souvenirs.

Is your sweet tooth craving something decadent? This historic house may seem Plain Jane on the outside but inside Queen City Cakes in Regina, you'll find a riot of whimsical colour. From their beautiful cafe rooms to their sumptuous bathrooms, every inch is beautifully designed. And the cupcakes, macarons and cakes are deliciously decadent and just as colourful! They do once a month, too.

Both me and my guests were delighted at the end of a full day tour in Buffalo Pound Provincial Park, to get this “bird’s eye view” of a beautiful Western Kingbird. It hovered and then dipped into some brush to grab a quick snack.

What a beauty! 💛

The Crooked Bush has been on my Quirky Saskatchewan Bucket List for a few years now and we finally got to see it with locals RobinandArlene Karpan. It's a small copse of twisty aspens all stemming from the same 'mother tree roots'. But why so gnarly? Alien urine dumped from a spacecraft? Genetic mutation? Supernatural soil? No one knows for sure. But apparently dogs don't like it here much either. Hmmmm....
