Behind the Destination: Travel Through Twine 🥾

Destination St. John’s is proud to shine a light on the incredible partners we value so deeply. It is all of us working together that makes our destination truly special.

Today, we are highlighting Travel Through Twine, a guided walking tour of the Outer Battery led by lifelong resident and storyteller Randy Pearcey. Guests explore the breathtaking North Head Trail and step inside the Pearcey Family Twine Store and Stage, built in 1890 by Randy’s great-grandfather, to uncover the cultural significance of the cod fishery and the stories that shaped this outport community within a city.

Every corner of the Twine Store holds a piece of history. Fishing memorabilia, family stories passed down through generations, all shared firsthand by someone who has called this community home his entire life.

Travel Through Twine reminds us that some of the richest stories in our region are found in conversation with those that have lived them.
