On Wednesday, we left Isle of Skye and started our journey to Oban. Along the way, these two hillbillies inadvertently stopped for coffee and scones in a castle! It was a very cool experience and I’d say we almost fit in😉
Then, off to Fort William to visit the downtown area and glad we did. Very scenic with its pedestrian Main Street lined with shops and restaurants.
Finally, we arrived in Oban. Now I know why it’s often a recommended destination when travelling Scotland. Built on the waterfront and filled with castle hotels, McCaig’s Tower, and the Oban Distillery. It was a busy day of travel and exploring!

On Tuesday, we left Inverness and drove along Loch Ness until we arrived at Drumnadrochit, home of the Loch Ness Experience and Urquhart Castle. We chose pictures over experiencing both of these…but that was a challenge🫤.
Then…we drove through beautiful peaks and valleys, visited Eilean Donan Castle, crossed Skye Bridge and off to Portree.
There was no shortage of beautiful rugged landscapes on this day!

Yesterday brought us to small towns, the Culloden Battlefield, and the center of the highlands…Inverness!
We started with a little eggs benny at Fennel Restaurant in Inverurie (yum!) then we learned of the bloodiest battle in Scotland’s history, at the Culloden battlefield. And then we landed in beautiful Inverness, where River Ness runs through and the skyline is filled with castles and cathedrals🏰. We topped the day off with a little bar-hopping…and it didn’t disappoint! Videos in the comments🎻🎵🍻

If you ever get the opportunity to visit Aberdeen, I highly recommend a stop at Soul bar and restaurant on Union St. It’s a beautifully transformed church that serves fantastic food and cold drinks👌
