✈️ Travel Tip Tuesday ✈️

Before you leave home, take screenshots of your boarding passes, hotel confirmations, transfer details, and travel insurance policy - and save them on your phone.

Why? Airport Wi-Fi can be unreliable, apps sometimes log you out at the worst possible moment, and roaming data isn’t always instant when you land in a new country.

Having everything stored offline means you can move through airports, check into hotels, and confirm reservations smoothly even if your connection disappears.

It’s a small step that makes travel days feel much calmer.

Just over a year ago I half-jokingly told my husband that some month, I was going to make the “Top 10 Go Travel Agents” across Canada.

At the time it felt like a huge stretch, still does. I’ve always been someone who sets unrealistic goals for myself. Then end up running dayshifts into nightshifts, and jumbling everything in between- just to prove to myself that I can.

I had just left a completely different industry after many years, starting something brand new, also navigating life, and a business venture that my family has been trying to grow over the years.

I was so incredibly excited to see this! Top 10!! Honestly, i’m still in shock over it . But so truly grateful — for the people who trusted in me to help plan their travels and for the constant support from our loved ones. A reminder that sometimes the goals that feel the furthest away, are the ones worth chasing the most! Take that chance, take that opportunity ♥️ ✌️

✈️ Travel Tip: What to Pack in Your Carry-On ✈️

Your carry-on bag isn’t just for entertainment during the flight. Packing a few important items can make travel days much smoother, especially if there are delays or if checked luggage takes a little longer to arrive.

Here are a few things we recommend keeping in your carry-on:

A change of clothes - Even just a clean shirt and undergarments can be very helpful after a long flight or if luggage is delayed.

Prescription medication - Always keep medications in your carry-on rather than checked luggage.

Basic toiletries - A toothbrush, deodorant, lip balm, and small moisturizer can make a big difference during long travel days (but be sure to pack any liquids in a clear bag, no more than 1litre in size).

Phone charger and cable - Airports and planes don’t always have reliable charging options, so having your own charger handy helps.

Travel documents - Passport, boarding passes, confirmations, and travel insurance information should always stay with you.

Snacks - Airlines don’t always provide much, and airport options can vary depending on your connection.

Reusable water bottle - Bring it empty through security and refill it once you’re through.

A pen - Still surprisingly useful for customs forms and quick notes.

A little preparation in your carry-on can make your journey much more comfortable, no matter where your travels take you.

✈️ Travel Tip: Pack Batteries in Your Carry-On 🔋

When preparing for your trip, remember that spare batteries and power banks must be packed in your carry-on bag, not in checked luggage.

This includes portable chargers, extra camera batteries, drone batteries, and other loose lithium batteries.

For specific rules or limits, check the airline’s website before you travel.

A quick check before you leave home can save you time and hassle at the airport.

Recent news coverage about violence in parts of Mexico has understandably raised questions for travelers with upcoming trips.

If you are scheduled to travel, the most helpful first step is to connect directly with your Go Travel advisor. They can review your specific itinerary, talk through your options, and share the most current verified information available to us.

If you did not book your trip through Go Travel, we recommend reaching out to the airline, tour operator, or company you booked with, as they are best positioned to assist you with your reservation and any available options.

Many of the incidents being reported are occurring on Mexico’s Pacific coast, particularly in the Puerto Vallarta/Jalisco region. Cancun and the Riviera Maya are located on the Caribbean coast, more than 2,000 km away, and are not in the same area.

At this time, tourism operations in Cancun and the Riviera Maya are continuing as normal.

We encourage travelers to rely on official sources for updates rather than social media posts, screenshots, or second-hand reports. At the moment, a large amount of unverified content - including edited, misattributed, or AI-generated photos and videos - is circulating online.

For Canadian travelers, the Government of Canada travel advisory page provides up-to-date, region-specific information:
https://travel.gc.ca/destinations/mexico

Go Travel advisors actively monitor official advisories, supplier communications, and trusted contacts in destination. If developments arise that directly affect your travel plans, your advisor will reach out.

Travel decisions are ultimately personal, and each traveler must decide what feels right for their situation. Your advisor can help you review the facts specific to your trip so you can make an informed choice.

Please be mindful about sharing unverified information online. While it often comes from a place of concern, it can unintentionally create confusion or unnecessary worry for travelers and their families.

No one plans for their trip to go sideways. But travel has a lot of moving parts, and even well-planned trips can be affected by things outside your control.

Travel insurance can help protect you if you need medical care while away, if your trip is delayed or interrupted, or if unexpected events force you to cancel before you leave. It’s not about expecting the worst, it’s about having a backup plan.

Medical coverage is especially important when travelling outside your home province or country. Your regular health plan may offer limited or no coverage abroad, and medical care can be expensive without insurance.

It’s also important to choose coverage that fits how you’re travelling. A quick getaway, a cruise, and a longer international trip all have different considerations, and not all policies are the same.

Travel insurance is one of those things you hope you never need, but are very glad to have if you do.

If you have questions about what coverage makes sense for your trip, reach out to your Go Travel advisor.
