We had another beautiful flight over Sussex this weekend with friends . We had a passenger all the way from Ireland who was visiting a local friend!

Proud to take park in this event! This stated as a causal ball game last year and has now turned into a fundraiser event. Balloon pilots and crew from Sussex are truly family. Thanks to all who organized this event. We will do it again next year!

Sussex Balloonatics Bat for a Cause was a success!

Local Sussex Pilots and Crew traded our burners for bats, while a local ball team volunteered their time to help us raise money for a local family!

With the help of the community that came to watch us, we were able to raise $1,350 for the family, all the while having fun. We enjoyed some laughs, team spirit and made some new memories! We played while it rained and boy, was that rain welcomed to cool us off in the heat!

A huge thank you to Stephanie McFarlane and to Samantha Armstrong, for all the hard work of organizing this event. To John Walsh and the Rookies, for joining in on the fun and helping this great cause. It wasn’t competitive, it was all just great fun! And to everyone that took part in the 50/50, made a donation and who came out to watch, even sticking it out in the rain, THANK YOU!

We have said it before and we will say it again, this is why we love our community sooooo very much! Sussex has heart! Thank you for your continued local support! 🩵

Our Atlantic Balloon Fiesta will be spectacular again this year when over 30 hot air balloons soar above Sussex from Sept. 10-13.

Even though the provincial Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture cancelled this wildly popular event’s funding this year because the minister wasn’t convinced of its significance as a tourism draw without certain data, I am happy to contribute $7,000 from the riding’s Community Investment Fund to help make up those lost dollars.

I applaud the amazing team of volunteers and sponsors who make the Atlantic Balloon Fiesta not only the province’s most colourful festival, but one of the most well attended with a draw of between 80,000 to 100,000 people each year. That’s a big boost to Sussex and area businesses.

My wish is the weather cooperates and this 40th fiesta is the best one yet. 🙂
