✈️ This is one of our favourite times of the year at Sierra Travel! ❤️
After months of planning, we're finally seeing so many of our clients heading off on their vacations!
We have honeymooners enjoying Aruba, families heading to Cancun and couples escaping for some wonderful adults-only vacations. There's something pretty special about watching all those months of planning turn into our clients actually enjoying their holidays! 🥰
I've been reflecting lately on something I've learned over the years in this business.
When I first partnered with George at Sierra Travel 9 years ago, he had already spent decades building his business. Meanwhile, I was entering an industry where so many people had become accustomed to booking their own vacations online.
At the time, I felt like I needed to say yes to every booking request, even when someone had chosen a resort simply because the price looked great. And I was happy to help at pretty much any hour of the day!
But over time, I learned something really important.
❤️ My experience and recommendations are far more valuable to our clients than simply making a quick booking.
These days, I'd much rather start by asking a few questions.
What's your budget? What are you hoping to experience? Are your dates flexible? Do you want to relax at a beautiful resort, spend your days at the beach or head out and explore?
And sometimes that means saying, "I actually think there's somewhere else you'd enjoy more, and here's why."
It took me a while to move away from people pleasing and feel confident making those recommendations. But what a difference it's made!
I rarely receive those worried messages about resort choices or disappointed messages once clients arrive anymore. I truly believe so much of that comes down to finding the right fit before they leave.
Because at Sierra Travel, we care about your experience, not just your booking. ❤️
We want you to come home happy, travel with us again and feel confident recommending us to your friends and family. That's how our family-owned business has continued since 1980, and hopefully for many more years to come!
And something we don't share often enough? Our prices for identical vacation packages are the same as booking online. We don't charge booking fees, and you get the added benefit of our experience, recommendations and personal service.

🇮🇹❤️ We have some exciting news to share!
As I prepare for my 9th season as a partner at Sierra Travel alongside my dad, George, I'm feeling especially excited about what lies ahead!
One of my dreams has been to get back to Europe more often. It's one of my absolute favourite places to vacation and somewhere I genuinely love helping our clients explore!
For years, I created what I like to call freestyle itineraries, building flights, hotels and travel plans from scratch for our clients. And I really enjoyed doing it!
But as I began booking more clients on guided tours, something interesting happened. I started to realize just how different these experiences were from what I had always imagined!
I think when many of us hear the words "guided tour," we picture one big bus full of people, travelling from attraction to attraction all day while listening to a guide.
Well, let me tell you… there is SO much more to it than that! 😍
The more I researched the different tour companies we work with, the more excited I became! There are so many different travel styles, group sizes, activity levels and experiences available. You can practically hand-select a tour company and itinerary that fits the way YOU love to travel!
At Sierra Travel, George and I believe that helping our clients book amazing vacations is only part of what we do. We also believe it's important to get out there and experience different ways of travelling ourselves.
Which brings me to our exciting news! 🇮🇹❤️
In April 2027, Mike and I are heading to Italy for our very first guided tour with Collette!
We've selected their 9-day Rome, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast tour, a Level 3 active adventure that will take us through some of the most beautiful parts of Italy!
We're also planning a day trip over to Capri!
Ahhhh… an absolute dream come true! 🥂❤️
One of the things we love about this particular tour is that nine days feels like the perfect amount of time for us. We can arrive a couple of days early, enjoy some time exploring on our own, experience the tour and then stay a couple more days before heading home.
We'll be flying round trip to Rome, which makes things nice and convenient. And for those of you who have been collecting WestJet points, flights to Rome may be a great opportunity to put them to use!
I love the idea of having our own time to explore while also enjoying an organized itinerary where so many of the details are already taken care of!
And here's something else I'm really excited to share!

November is such a wonderful time to sneak away for a little sunshine! ☀️🌴
Unless your husband is a hunter… then you might as well just scroll on by this post unless you want to take a friend! No judgement here🤷‍♀️😂🦌
We’ve found some pretty great 10-day getaways out of Edmonton!
We're having a little fun this year with some different airlines flying our clients out of Edmonton, including Porter Airlines!

This resort has been around for a long time, and with new ownership and renovations, it's been making a bit of a comeback!
We love that this is the kind of resort where you can settle in, enjoy the sunshine, take long walks on the beach and just have a really nice holiday without needing all the luxury extras.
It has a loyal following of repeat guests, and sometimes that tells you a lot about a resort!
