Campus Discs Campus Discs is a business that travels to university and college campuses in southern and central Ontario selling used CDs and Vinyl.

We are always on the lookout for new stock so send us a message if you have anything to sell. Due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, I do not have a set schedule for the Fall 2021 term. I will be booking two to three weeks in advance so please keep checking in for updates on where I will be setting up each week. Hoping to have a set schedule for the second term in 2022.

I bought a killer collection from such a great guy a couple years ago that was in the music business He had a bunch of autographed records that at the time I offered to auction off for him as a favour because him and his wife were so damn kind. Anyways long story short I saw him last week again and he asked me to auction off a few of his records. All of the funds will be going to him as he needs some funds for something very personal to him. I don’t have a COA for this album but he has dealt with a lot of famous people throughout the years He told me he got 1984 signed directly from the band. So same rules as previous auctions. I will be doing this on Instagram and Facebook simultaneously so the top bid on either page wins. Auction ends Sunday at 2pm EST. (Bid has to be in by 159pm). If you are in the GTA , I will deliver it to you somehow. If you are far away I can ship at your cost. You can etransfer me the funds and I will pay the owner. None of the funds are going to me but to this amazing couple in need that have become friends of mine. There will be a few more that I will post but this is the best one by far. Feel free to share this is you know a massive DLR Van Halen fan. Starting bid is $50. I will keep everyone up to date on the highest bid. Good luck!

Edit. I spoke to the seller. His best friend was an executive for Warner and he picked up a Van Halen from the airport on April 17th 1984 for the show at Maple Leaf Gardens. He got them to sign it at their hotel room (I can only imagine what happened in that hotel room post show). He then gave it to the seller that day and they enjoyed the show that night! Hope that helps as many have reached out for more info

Another edit. This post has gone a little viral on Instagram. The highest bid on Facebook or Instagram wins it. I don’t have a COA and i take the word of the seller as to its authenticity. He along with his best friend were in the music business. It’s not my item but trying to do good for someone in need. So keep that in mind when bidding. Good luck

Update. Still haven’t found another one. Maybe I should have kept it! Guided By Voices

I have a had a ton of new followers in the last year., so just so you are aware, you will be angry, mad and upset with me through the summer months Why? Because I will tease everyone with pics and videos of what I have and will be buying during the summer. Unfortunately none of these will be available until the school year starts. Everything I buy goes on shelves at my warehouse and stays there until September then it goes out in a random fashion so each school has a chance to get some great titles. Peace and love, peace and love, I won’t answer if this is for sale. So this is a safe space, so go ahead and comment below on how much I suck!!!

Campus Discs is in buying mode looking to purchase your used vinyl!

Hello everyone, thought i would send out this post to see if there is any interest in selling your some, most or all of your record collection. When someone calls me wanting me to purchase their lps, they tend to ask the same questions. Therefore it seems best to answer them below as you probably have the same thoughts.

What genres are you looking for?

Classic Rock, Jazz, Blues, Punk, Alternative, Soul, Reggae, Garage, Rockabilly, Hip Hop, RnB, Metal, Indie, New Wave, Goth, Industrial and many others but these are the main ones

What do you not buy?

Classical, Country, Big Band Jazz, Show Tunes, Pop Music from the 50s and 60s, Vocalists (Mathis, Reeves, Streisand, etc), ethnic music (ie German, Polka, Irish etc)

Do you buy 45s or 78s?

I try not to buy 45s unless they are part of a collection. Right now I have around 30k on hand so I am not on the lookout for them. For 78s, I do not buy them. Unfortunately they do not have any value for me and are very heavy!

What size of collections do you buy?

Any where from 100- 20,000 records but we can discuss whatever you have to sell

Will you travel to take a look at what i have to sell?

I am based in Toronto and will drive to wherever you are. I don't mind driving at all! However it will all depend on what you have in your collection for me to make it worth my while. If you are in Ottawa for instance, it would have to be a good size and value collection for me to spend the day travelling to purchase what you have to sell. We can discuss beforehand what you have and make a plan afterwards

How much do you pay for used records?

Great question that i get all the time. Sorry for the vagueness of the answer but it all depends on what you have. Condition, pressing, rarity, desirability and how much i have of that title on hand will factor into what I can pay. I tend to pay roughly 50% of what intend to sell the record for I pay very fair, as if you are happy, then you will recommend me to others!

Can I get a quote on what my collection is worth for you to purchase?

For sure, we can discuss the ballpark figure of what I would offer but I won't give an exact number unless I can see the lps myself. I need to look at the condition, pressing etc to give a more accurate number. I don't want to underpay someone and on the opposite side, overpay as the records were not as described. Condition is a very big factor in the value of a collection

Will you buy the whole thing or just what you need?

Most of the time, I prefer to make on offer on the whole thing. Whatever I don't need, I usually donate the remainder. For instance if I can use only 70% of a collection of 500 then I will give a little something for the 150 i don't need and donate them. As well, you can hang on to them as well

I am unsure that I want to sell everything, is that still fine?

For sure. What many people do is they ask for me to purchase only their higher value lps If that is the case, I ask what the minimum what they will take and I can go from there. I put the lps in different price points and come up with a figure with what I can offer.

I have some lps that I believe are worth good money but just want to make sure before you buy them, Is that ok?

Of course, I will go over what everything is worth to me. If you don't feel comfortable, then by all means you can hang onto the record.

How do I know that you have paid me fairly?

I have been in business for almost 30 years (this September is 30!!!) and 14 years dealing with used vinyl. I rely upon my reputation as the vast majority of people who get in touch with me is from someone else that has recommended me as being very honest with what they had to sell.

Right now, I am not ready to sell. Can I forward your information to someone I know that has a good size collection that may wish to?

Of course! Feel free to forward this to whomever. I appreciate any lead. Word of mouth is how i acquire some of the best collections

Will you buy my cds as well?

I get cds in by the thousands, however I still do buy cds. For cds, it has to be a fairly large collection (400 plus) and looking for the same kind of music that i stated for the vinyl earlier in the email. If you have records and cds for sale, then that is better.

What is the best way to get in touch with you?

I prefer a text @ 416 708 1110 initially then we can chat over the phone after that or you can send a DM throught Campus Discs

This is just a small sampling of the questions I get, so don't hesitate to give me a shout or text to discuss what you have.

Thanks and looking forward to hearing about all of the gems in your collection!

So obviously I suck at making the fake one as the vast majority said the false one was number 1. I can only assume that most of you have told or now will tell your significant other never to contact me to buy your collection!!! Congrats to Alex Mullender on the victory. My son chose your name out of a hat. I sure you will use it towards some Ska or reggae record next year in London. Thanks to everyone for playing.

Here is a little more info on each story

A lady i was dealing with told me it was her husband’s collection and he wanted to sell it but was out of town at the time. I bought it but a week later the husband called me and said his wife had no business selling his records. He would return the money and wanted them back. I had to tell him that unfortunately I had already put some out for sale and couldn’t find what else he had. He wasn’t happy

This was false. Need to do a better job next time

2. I went to a collection two hours away. I bought about 1000 records. The same guy calls me again and says he wants to sell more of his collection. Another 1000 records. He was cold to me both times didn’t want to talk and pretty much said here is my price take or leave it. A month later he calls me again to buy the last 200 of his records. After we make a deal he says “I have 4 friends in life, now I have 5 , thanks for coming “

This was in Stirling Ont. The guy sold his house so he had to downsize. Also the same collection where I found a Ramones album that had a pic with a nice note from a girlfriend to her boyfriend. I posted the pic years ago and through lots of sharing they reconnected via the photo I posted !

3. Went to see a collection that had some killer records but a lot of value village stuff too. Before I give him a price he tells me that he has to be honest and told me someone else would also have a crack at giving a quote. No problem and I offered him $1800 for what he had. He said can you make it $2000? I said my price is fair and he can let me know. The other people were coming the next day at noon. He texts me the next day at 12:01 and says it’s mine. I asked him what happened with the other quote. He said he overheard them say “$300 or $350” and I walked in on them and told them to get the f**k out of my house! When can you come ?

This has happened a bunch of times but not to this extent of a discrepancy in price. The moral of the story is to pay people fairly and you won’t get told to get the f**k out of someone’s home

4 bought some records from an actor from Degrassi Junior High

This happened in the past year. It was the great Pat Mastroani aka Joey Jeremiah. He deals in high end comic books so if you have any to sale, let me know and I can make the connection

5. Had a call from a lady asking if I bought records because she has “a zillion”. I asked her if she needed me to stop by and have a look. She proceeds to tell me that she is waiting for her partner to die and she doesn’t know if it will be in 50 years or next week. I asked her how many he has and she asked him and I could hear him say 2000 in the background. I guess now I have to wait !

This happened last week. I felt like I needed to call the authorities if she decided to off her partner so she could sell her records to me. She said she has my number and will call me!

6 looked at a collection of 1000 lps. Made an offer and he said he had to think it over but the answer would most likely be yes. He emails a couple days later saying he will accept the quote. We email back and forth about what I could stop and we agree for later that day. When I show up, I am at the door, and he looks at me funny. I tell him, it’s Eric I was here two days ago. He tells me that I am not Eric. After a few minutes I finally convince him that it’s actually the guy he saw before.

This also just happened last week. I got the collection so all ended up well!

Thanks for reading and onto the next funny stories !

05/01/2026

Haven’t done one of these in a while so let’s do another contest. When I start the day, I never know what will happen in this business. So many funny stories and interesting people each day!!! Life would be boring without some spice in this life! Here are 6 stories and one of them is false. You have to guess which one is false in the comments below. Contest ends Sunday at 6pm. I will show all of the winners plus pick the eventual winner out of a hat and they get a $30 gift certificate to the next Campus Discs sale they attend

So guess the wrong answer….
