New beginner-level Finnish language & culture courses start on Tuesday, April 28! 🇫🇮 While the morning course is sold out, there are still two spots available in the evening course. We will meet on Tuesdays from 6.30 to 8 pm on Zoom.

These courses are designed for complete beginners and are also suitable for those who may understand or speak some Finnish but have never formally studied the language.

In a friendly, small-group setting, we'll explore the Finnish language and culture together. Our interactive classes focus on building practical language skills you can use with friends and family or while travelling in Finland. You'll build vocabulary, practice speaking, reading, and writing, and learn grammar in manageable, bite-sized pieces. Along the way, we'll also explore seasonal traditions — like Midsummer celebrations. ☀️

These are some of the beautiful traditional Finnish costumes that were generously donated to our Finnish School. These "kansallispuvut" carry stories from generations past and will be cherished by our folk dance group. You can admire them at our 65th Anniversary Gala on June 13th!

Did you know that we actively work to preserve Finnish traditions? We have kantele groups and a folk dance group that help keep our heritage alive. If you'd like to participate in our intergenerational activities, we warmly invite you to join us—tervetuloa mukaan! We also welcome donations, which make these activities possible. We had an amazing time yesterday watching the Raptors vs. Utah Jazz game with our Finnish school families! 🏀⛹️‍♂️ Before tip‑off, we had the incredible opportunity to meet Lauri Markkanen, the 🇫🇮 NBA All‑Star forward for the Utah Jazz. A huge thank you & kiitos to Lauri for taking the time to meet us and inspire our students. We are also sending greetings to HoNsU the sports club in Jyväskylä where Lauri grew up; we are truly grateful for your support and our cross‑Atlantic friendship! A big shout‑out as well to Toronto Raptors organization for the fantastic event and smooth arrangements!

Not only are we nurturing our love for the Finnish language and culture, but we’re also raising the next generation of basketball fans! 🏀🧡
