The Petawawa River is a dangerous river! However, the river's difficulty level acts as a natural barrier to campers who don’t appreciate how to respect and care for the land they travel over. You won’t find beer cans and garbage strewn across the world-class campsites on the Petawawa! If you do visit this sacred piece of our history, please practice no-trace canoeing and camping. Do your best to leave each campsite in excellent condition. This river is so much more to me than a lovely trip to take in my life. It’s a deep and powerful access to core memories of both my parents and many dear friends. It’s a touchstone in my life with significant changes and solace in my heart. Please enjoy these pictures and use a knowledgeable guide if you decide to visit this pristine place located on the northeastern edge of Ontario’s beautiful Algonquin Park. The Pet is a wild river and must be respected.

The Spanish River is a must paddle for Canoeing enthusiasts in Ontario and beyond. However, the trip should only be attempted by intermediate paddlers who have basic training in white water canoeing.

One of Ontario’s finest Canoe Routes as detailed in Kevin Callan’s “Top 70 Canoe Routes of Ontario “. The Big Trout Loop! A masterpiece of creeks, lakes, and world class camp sites.

This was more than a vacation. It was an adventure with difficult challenges and painful portages. The goal and result, life long memories and a deeper understanding of my daughter Alisa and her strong, gentle, and caring spirit. I treasure this trip with my entire soul and etch it deep into the fibre of my being as a precious discovery of self.

I post this in total support of the people of Jasper and our Alberta family and friends. The world is changing and not always for the best. Nature is precious, and unfortunately, not permanent.

I believe we should all venture into the wild and learn about who we are and where we come from. The strength that brought us this far will persevere and find a way forward.

Paddle Kew Gardens tennis courts to R.C Harris filtration facility:

There were some big swells on the lake today, but it only added to the excitement! What a nice paddle with George, we totally enjoyed the weather and water today.

Reminder - The lake is still very cold so always ware a life jacket, it would be impossible to put one on after capsizing. Also stay close to shore and try to keep your bow facing oncoming swells.
