Flammekueche wasn’t invented by a chef. It was invented by bakers. In Alsace, the region between France and Germany, bakers used thin dough to test oven temperatures before baking bread. Our new Summer Street Eats tour begins at Qishr Coffee House, where guests sample qishr, a traditional Yemeni tea made from coffee husks. It’s a reminder that one plant can become many different drinks, and that Toronto’s food scene is really a story of people bringing traditions from around the world.
