HX Expeditions (Cruising for Non-Cruisers, Part 3)
This isn't the first time I've posted about HX and Galápagos, but it's high on my bucket list, so it's worth repeating.
HX runs expedition ships to some of the most remote places most travellers only dream about, let alone visit — the Arctic, Antarctica, Alaska, Greenland, the Galápagos, and the Northwest Passage.
Every trip follows the same idea: small ships, a team of naturalists and scientists on board, and daily excursions by Zodiac, kayak, or on foot that put you directly into the landscape instead of watching it from a deck chair. Some days, that's tracking wildlife on a hike. Other days, it's a polar plunge, a paddle through icebergs, or a snorkel alongside wildlife that is curious and completely unfazed by your presence.
If this sounds a little familiar, it's because it's the same style of travel behind my Adventure Canada trip I mentioned a few weeks ago — small ship, expert-led, and built around wild places rather than onboard amenities. HX brings that same philosophy to a much bigger map.
After talking to the HX rep at conference, Galápagos with HX has moved right back up my list. Small ship, wildlife like you've never seen before, and naturalists who know exactly where to find it all. I'm hoping to make this one happen soon.
