Went up to the Sunshine Coast yesterday for the first time since February! It's a beautiful area, but unfortunately it's just not that easy to get to on public transit. The Gold Coast, meanwhile, has the infrastructure to make day trips pretty straightforward.

I'll probably try to go back up this way a few more times, but it takes about 3 hours each way, whereas getting to the Gold Coast from Brisbane takes about 2 hours.

I'm becoming one of those public transit nerds that goes to ride new train and rail routes on the day they open! Today the Gold Coast G:Link light rail extended pretty significantly southward, from Broadbeach all the way to Burleigh Heads.

Buses go up and down the coast, but they can be slowed down by heavy traffic, so the light rail will probably be faster at least during rush hour. If you ever visit the Gold Coast, it will now be even easier to explore the southern beaches, which are some of my favorites!
