Rue Pigalle

Rue Pigalle A community for women who love travel and craft!🧵🎨 Where we are going next? ✈️
https://ruepigalle.ca Who doesn’t want to create that kind of legacy?

Rue Pigalle celebrates, nurtures and promotes crafts through our Gatherings, Artisanal Journeys and The Club, by Rue Pigalle. We connect you to the people behind the objects, we share their real-life stories because when we nurture craft makers we help to foster a thoughtful, kind and connected society. And we do it all while having fun. The Club connects women around the world who have a curious

mind, are fervent supporters of crafts and wish to expand their world, their network, and their knowledge in a fun yet purposeful way. As one of our members said, we want to, “expand your awareness and understanding of what it is to be a maker and inspire you to find the story behind a hand-crafted work.” We want to, “light a flame for craft that you might not know is there.”

I just love taking my friends and clients to meet the artists in their studios, discover their world, listen to their story and experience their culture. Whether the conversation is in person during a trip or digital as part of our “In Conversation” series, we experience that feeling of satisfaction at having fed our soul and stretched our mind listening to the makers’ stories.

Delphine Grandvaux puts the immaterial in our hands - the curves, volutes and volumes of her ajouré wire sculptures create inner spaces that draw us in - we want to inhabit them. Their visual and material lightness puts them in harmony with the imperceptible breeze, the whisper of light, creating a mesmerizing ballet of shadows and movements.
The level of skill required to achieve such perfection defies the lay person's comprehension.

Our April Stitching Circle takes us to the studio of Paris-based weaver Mathieu Le Traon. After a successful career in international higher education, Mathieu decided to embark on a new journey as a hand weaver. We had the opportunity to visit Mathieu last year at his studio. Through his practice, Mathieu also addresses the role that weaving has with transmitting and honouring cultural heritage.

Join us if you want to learn about Mathieu's journey as we snoop around his Paris studio.

Discover Quebec : Tamara Rubilar - I love that Tamara Rubilar aims to elicit a feeling of wonder through her embroidery - haute couture is not about "luxury" and "high end" and "exclusive" - it's about excellence and skills honed over thousands of hours of practice, trials and error, and innovation. That's what Tamara achieves in her own, quiet way. A visit to her studio will be a true gift.

Returning from our weeklong trip to London on the eve of International Women’s Day, it seems fitting to reflect on the reality of women's travel. ✨

After each trip, I am always surprised by the realization that something truly profound unfolds when women travel together. It transcends the destination—it’s about the learning and the friendships. 🌷 Happy International Women's Day! 🌷

It is an exploration of pattern, time, and the physical and conceptual interplay of space. Richard McVetis intricate textile work honours slowness in a conceptual and practice-based approach — each stitch becomes a record of labour, thought and care.

We often travel far, seeking beauty, craftsmanship, and inspiration (writing this from London, UK…) — yet some of the most remarkable artists and makers are right here, in our own country (see our recent trip to Ottawa). That’s why I created this trip: to shine a light on the extraordinary talent in Quebec’s thriving art and fine craft scene and to bring you closer to the people shaping it.

This May, join me and an intimate group of 10 like-minded women for a rare opportunity to meet the artisans, designers, and creators who define Montreal’s and Quebec City’s creative soul.

✨What a weekend in Prince Edward County!✨

We experienced a whirlwind of creativity, craft, and culinary delights. Here are a few highlights from our adventure:

🌿 Tom Ashbourne, Sculptor welcomed us into his studio, sharing insights into his stunning stone sculptures that left us inspired by his artistry and vision

🎨 We then dove into Kayo O’Young’s world, where vibrant colors and intricate details made each ceramic piece come alive with spirit and culture

🛠️ A visit to the studio of Kosoy + Bouchard revealed their passion for timeless, handcrafted design, showcasing pieces that marry beauty and utility

🍲 Enid Grace worked her culinary magic in a hands-on cooking class, and we savored every bite of her flavorful creations as well as the artistry behind each dish

🪚 Finally, we got hands-on at Finefolk Furniture, learning the craft of woodworking in an immersive class that connected us with the natural materials and timeless skills Katrina Tompkins so beautifully upholds.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this unforgettable journey through craft, food, and connection! 💫
