Printemps Haussmann is a famous department store on Boulevard Haussmann in Paris. It first opened in 1865 and quickly became known for selling the newest fashions and home goods. The building you see today is not the original one. In 1881, a large fire destroyed much of the store. It was rebuilt with stronger iron and glass, and two round corner towers were added.

Another fire in 1921 damaged the domes, so the owners rebuilt them using a metal frame and covered the roofs with green and gold mosaics. These shiny domes are still a landmark in Paris. In the 1930s, a taller section was added behind the original façade to give the store more space.

The front of the store has also changed to fit modern shopping needs. Large advertising screens now cover part of the façade, and bright banners hang down to show current sales. Inside, Printemps has seven levels of clothing, beauty products, food halls, and even a rooftop terrace with a view of the Eiffel Tower.

Today, Printemps Haussmann is both a historic monument and a busy shopping center, combining its 19th‑century style with modern retail displays.
