Ever since I entered the labour market I've wanted a great job with a high paying salary. The problem I've found is that there's such furious competition out there that I had practically a 0% chance at even landing the interview let-alone the job. This prompted me to seek re-training in a Business Administration career path. After excelling at a 3 year Business Administrative Marketing program tha
t included courses like Human Resources Management, Sales Force Management 1 & 2, Marketing Management 1 & 2, Managing the Sales Floor, The Professional Edge and Personal Selling. After being laid-off from my first salary paying job I couldn’t compete with the competition again. I went to two career specialists and 2 résumé specialists before deciding to re-train myself again. This time I completed a 2 year Advertising program with Honours. The Advertising program included courses such as Lay-out & Design 1 2 3 & 4, Advertising Sales 1 & 2, The Professional Edge and Advertising Management 1 & 2. During this time I met with another Résumé Specialist and took advice from the Director of Advertising. The knowledge I had gained allowed me to re-write my résumé and re-design the résumé's layout in such a way that I was now getting interviews for positions even though I had far less than the desired experience. In every interview I would receive comments about my résumé like “that’s amazing’, “how did you make that so nice’ and ‘its refreshing to get such a nice résumé for a change”. After being invited to more than a few high quality interviews, I was offered a job. The starting salary offer was far below what I was looking for though. Using my new knowledge I was able to re-negotiate my starting salary for $13,000 more than their original offer. Unfortunately, that position was only a 15-month contract and then I was right back to where I had started. Worse off actually because after all of that work I had an M.S. flare-up; this made it impossible to work in an office environment. I had to find something else to do but I had no idea what that should be. Then I realized the growing demand for a résumé that would stand out and be noticed. I prepared the Professional Résumé Layout using all of my knowledge to produce a high quality, effective and cost efficient solution. Why Does a Professional Résumé Layout
Give you the Advantage? A professional layout gives an applicant the ability to draw the potential employers eye flow. Controlling the reader's eye flow is essential to achieve the maximum amount of information retention. That means that when the employer is beginning the interview process, there is a higher probability that the employer will recall your name bringing it to top of mind. This layout also incorporates the psychology behind generating a more in-depth read through. If these tactics aren't used, there is a higher probability that the hiring manager will simply pass that entire section over completely. A chronological layout allows you to form your employment history into a complete story. This makes it easier for the reader to get a better understanding of your past; also, this layout will aid in the retention of your information. What this means to you, is that when the employer is beginning the interview process there is a higher probability that your résumé will come top of mind. Through updating your résumé to a professional résumé layout you will be taking the first vital steps to diversifying yourself. When you have completed updating your résumé you can expect compliments from any of your readers. Compliments can include praise such as “that’s amazing’, “how did you make that so nice’ and ‘it's refreshing to get such a nice résumé for a change”.
