What goes down at a vegan festival?

Although my closet friends are vegan, it was really nice to meet new people and be more present in the Vancouver vegan community!

Here are a few of the places I checked out for food:
- for the donuts they brought (from I’m pretty sure) & their own butter chicken fries
- for their rose kulfi ice cream
- for their vegan cookie options

The best part of the day was listening to the experts at the vegan outreach tent encourage others to join the social events, do activism, and volunteer or donate to 🐰🐇

Have you ever been to a vegetarian or vegan festival?!

*some footage of the tent provided by - contact him if you want to do some vegan activism or join social events.

Too many hotels are just somewhere to sleep. This one isn’t.

DoubleTree by Hilton Kamloops gave me a bright lobby, on-site bar and restaurant, spacious room, and a downtown location that makes it easy to experience the city.

I stayed here as a guest of As always, all opinions and experiences are my own.

Here’s to enjoying your own home town and finding new-to-you local businesses to check out and support:

📍4160 Hastings St, Burnaby, BC
They have so many vegan options on their menu that it was hard for me to pick what to eat! I chose the Bhel Puri. Can’t wait to go back!

📍 4094 Hastings St, Burnaby, BC I love their selection of new and used books including a great selection of gift ideas and books by Canadian authors.

I couldn’t help but pick up a stack of vintage (from my childhood era 😬😳) The Baby-Sitters Club books.

JJ Bean 📍4299 Hastings St, Burnaby, BC - did you know they have a bunch of vegan options? And alternative milk options on their counter to add to your drinks?

These 3 places are all in walking distance of each other and on a bus route, making it easy to hop between places with ease.

Purchasing from these Summerland-based companies is a great way to support the community as residents and local business...

Purchasing from these Summerland-based companies is a great way to support the community as residents and local businesses deal with the ongoing wildfires.

Summer is an important season for many small businesses in the Okanagan, and disruptions during peak tourism season can have an impact well beyond the immediate emergency.

If you’re able to help from home, consider ordering products online, purchasing a gift card for a future visit, or supporting Summerland businesses on social media.

A few Summerland businesses you can support:

• Maple Roch
• Replenish Refillery
• Sunkiss Acres
• Rustic & Refined
• The Carousel Collective
• LocalMotive

Know another Summerland business people can support online? Add it in the comments so I can keep the list going.
