Finishing up a 2 week road trip adventure in Northern BC!

Starting with a visit to the gold mining ghost town of Barkerville; on to Stewart BC and Hyder, Alaska; and finally some family time rafting and catching sockeye on the Skeena in Terrace, and topped off with a whale watching tour in Prince Rupert!

Just back from an amazing 5 days exploring London with my history obsessed, musical loving daughter! So many highlights, including hearing Big Ben, visiting the Egyptian galleries at the British Museum, and seeing a couple of amazing shows! London is one city I can visit again and again (and not just because my sister lives there with her family)

I’ve been out of the office the last few days on a family trip to the UK with my daughter. We started with a few days in Newcastle visiting Hadrian’s Wall, Newcastle Castle, and the North Sea 🇬🇧

Mini-bar at a 4 star vs 5 star all inclusive resort…

The 4 star resort stay was not originally part of my itinerary, but when our flight out of Cabo was cancelled due to mechanical issues and we had to stay an extra night, this is where WestJet was able to get space for 100+ stranded passengers.

The staff at the resort was great and did all they could to accommodate the extra last minute guests, but the best visual representation of the difference between the two levels of resorts is the mini bar. At the 4 star property it was just a couple of bottles of water, a few pops (there was also a bottle of orange Fanta but I downed that before I thought to take a picture), and 2 beers; whereas the 4 star property had lots of pop, beer, juice, water, as well as sweet and savoury snacks.

It’s one of those things that you may not think about when you’re making the initial booking, but it sure makes a difference when you are at the resort.

We checked in to the Paradisus by Melia Los Cabos - Adults Only in the Reserve section on Sunday. This is an upgraded section of the resort with preferred room location, upgraded minibar, private concierge service, lounge access, a private restaurant and pool, and an off site Destination Inclusive activity.

Yesterday we got to enjoy the off site activity, which is a 3 hour tour of San José del Cabo, including a visit to a chocolate factory, the cathedral, and a tequila tasting.

In the afternoon we got to participate in a wine and paint activity, which is available to all resort guests. I’m quite pleased with how my piece turned out.

I’ve had a great experience at the ME Cabo! It’s very clean and modern, with amazing food, and close to Cabo San Lucas (took me about 25 minutes to walk along the beach to the marina this morning).
It’s not all-inclusive, but can be booked to include breakfast, and has a great Mediterranean party vibe.
And you never have to worry if you’ve got your room key because your wristband is a key fob!!!!
