The St. Beatus Caves are one of the most fascinating natural attractions above Lake Thun, carved deep into the limestone cliffs of the Swiss Alps.

According to legend, the caves were once home to Saint Beatus, a monk who is said to have driven out a dragon living inside the mountain. Today, instead of myths, visitors explore a vast underground world shaped by thousands of years of flowing water.

Inside, you’ll find dramatic rock formations, stalactites, underground streams, and illuminated passageways that stretch deep into the mountain. The cool air, echoing chambers, and shifting light make it feel like a completely different world beneath the Alps.
