4th of May, Reichenbach Day!

As you may know, Granada TV's "The Final Problem" episode with Jeremy Brett, David Burke and Eric Porter was filmed on location at the Falls of Reichenbach, Switzerland, in October 1984. For the "death scene", two stuntmen actually jumped into the abyss... At the time, the "Daily Mirror" referred to it as “one of the most frightening television sequences ever made.”

Watch some recently rediscovered footage of the filming of the stunt, including some short interviews with director Alan Grint and Alf Joint (1927-2025), the stunt double for Professor Moriarty. The stunt double for Sherlock Holmes was Marc Boyle.

Der britische Autor Sir Arthur Conan Doyle hat die Schweiz Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts und zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts beruflich und privat mehrfach bereist. Die landschaftliche Schönheit der Schweiz hat ihn so beeindruckt, dass er sogar seinen Romanhelden Sherlock Holmes dort sterben ließ.
