🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭Our view across to the other side of the valley is very special.

We sit in a traditional Alpine valley in the Canton of Valais. We can see the Swiss villages of Nax, Saint-Martin and Mase so clearly some days.

The view naturally changes depending on the season. Right now, it’s late summer and it’s lush and green and the wooden chalets are easy to spot. The snow line changes the view as Winter progresses.

Summer nights 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭
Not often it’s warm enough to eat outside this high up, but this week in The Valais is a scorcher and frankly there’s nowhere better than the mountains.

It’s even tastier when supper is cooked by one of the ‘youff’ so I can enjoy the incredible vista with a glass of rosé.

SION 🇨🇭 our medieval capital of The Valais 🇨🇭

One of the driest and sunniest parts of Switzerland and home to plentiful fruit orchards and vineyards; in fact it’s the 3rd largest wine 🍷 region in Switzerland.

The Rhône River is integral to the area, as is The Tourbillon Castle built in the 13th Century.

Every Friday there is the most wonderful farmers market that stretches the entire length of the town. Go early to enjoy the atmosphere and have lunch in one of the many cafés or restaurants.

If it’s ‘home from home’ you’re after then stop scrolling ! Chalet Maridadi is very much a home, much loved and well used by our family and friends.

We built the chalet in 2011 and the design is well thought out in practical sense. It maximizes space and more importantly creates an obvious flow immediately after entering the chalet.

We love being here in any season, they are all so different and the varied seasons really do bring so much joy no matter the weather.

We are excited to welcome some of the EURO SUMMER matches to The Tourbillon stadium in Sion in The Valais.

🐣🌷HAPPY EASTER 🌷🐣

It’s been an extraordinary week of weather in The Alps. We’ve been experiencing full spring weather for a good few weeks and were reminded once again that nature calls the shots and can change the situation at a moments notice.

With intense and extremely heavy snowfall in a very short period of time, many villages and even resorts found themselves cut off and isolated. A stark reminder of how we need to be respectful of the mountains.

It ended well with Easter weekend providing wonderful snowy conditions for skiers wishing to take advantage of the late snow.

Les Collons, and Thyon have now closed for the 2024/25 ski season. It’s a period of rest for many after a brilliantly successful winter with great conditions.

We look forward to the summer in the mountains. Another favourite time of year for us!

Some days it’s simply too good NOT to share these mountains with you. The day started with a heavier than expected snow fall and zero visibility.

It slowly unfolded into a powder day for the skiers ⛷️ and the lure of almost 20cm of fresh powder in parts of The 4 Vallées was pure joy!

Some days the mountains provide a full spectacle and today was no exception 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭
