Remembering Congo Brazza
The feeling of space, silence and nature. Endless green landscapes, dense forests, wild vegetation everywhere, villages hidden between the trees, and almost a single road crossing the country from north to south. A road mainly built so resources like timber can leave the country, while many people still live in poverty in a land that is extremely rich in natural resources.
The country feels untouched in many ways. Very little developed, very raw, but incredibly alive.
And then there is Brazzaville. Calm, green, relaxed. Completely different from Kinshasa on the other side of the river. One of the things I loved most was standing by the railing along the riverbank, looking across at the skyline of Kinshasa and thinking how two capitals facing each other can feel like two different worlds. Kinshasa full of movement and chaos, while Brazzaville feels peaceful and slow.
