Are you ready to visit Europe in South America for FREE? 💸

If you are a history buff, Santiago's downtown will leave you smiling from ear to ear 😁 The European influence here is palpable and probably the main reason why Santiago is the cultural and historic center of Chile.

For ZERO dollars, you get to step back in time and discover these 5 amazing spots:

Plaza de Armas ~ palm-tree lined square with plenty of places for sitting and people watching surronded by architectural landmarks.

La Moneda Palace ~ the White House of Chile. You can take a guided tour from Mon-Fri (book in advance at the gov site). Outside of the palace, the change of guards ceremony happens every other day at 10 am.

Santa Lucia Hill ~ originally a lookout, this is Santiago's birthplace. Now, an extensive public park where you climb elegant stairs to the top of the hill to enjoy panoramic views of the city.

Old Stock Exchange ~ located in the La Alameda district this 1800's building takes up almost the entire block. To go inside, you have to leave your passport at the entrance.

National Museum of History ~ museum in a 19th century royal palace featuring Chilean historical and cultural exhibits. This one is open from Tuesday through Sunday.

PS: Plan to spend at least 1/2 a day in this area. A free walking tour is also a great idea!

Have you seen a rainbow 🌈 art tunnel before?

Santiago is home to "outside galleries of urban art" as described by . At the Bandera pedestrian walk with San Diego Street, you will marvel with what was probably the most amazing artwork we found in the city.

A pedestrian tunnel with over 7,000 sq meters (8371 sq yards) of painted floor space in addition to another 3,000 sq meters (3587 sq yards) of murals is a feast to the eyes.

Done by the Chilean artist Dasic Fernández, this tunnel is the perfect backdrop for those larger than life grams. It also has food trucks for a cozy coffee break ☕️

Thank goodness 🙏🏻

This was our first thought when we saw Virgin Mary after hiking the San Cristobal Hill on a hot summer day 😂😂 This 850 meters (or 2,800 feet) winding scenic hill in the middle of Santiago, Chile took our breath away...literally!

The hill sits atop Parque Metropolitano, Santiago's largest green space and it is deceptively higher than it looks from below. Underneath all the greenery, a zigzap steep trail will make you question your choices every step of the way.

But fear not! After an hour or so later, we reached the summit and thanked Virgin Mary for the spectacular city views and for providing us with a much needed workout 😜

Swipe right to see a lil' church inside the statute where John Paul II said mass way back when.

PS: You can always take a funicular up to the top.

We first saw mudcracks on the Sahara desert a few years back when we were passing by a dried up river.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, when the mudcracks are bending almost 90° degrees on both sides...hmm, you just arrived at Atacama. Lessons from the desert 😂😂😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Swipe right for the driest desert on earth 🏜

Cabin Fever 🤒
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whenever we tell people we took a year off to be together and travel, we ALWAYS hear one of two things:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Wowww, what were our fav countries? or
- Wowww, you are so lucky!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To the first one, we respond by saying that we have fav experiences and not countries. To the second, it may sound cliché but we don't believe in luck. We believe in opportunity and dedication.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Most importantly, we are just grateful to see how AMAZING our world is! Damn, we can't wait get out there again 🌎🌍🌏

It's snowing in the Desert y'all!!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not really 😂😂😂the Atacama was sprinkled with powdered sugar instead. We kid, we kid!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These white spots here are the result of heavy rainfall just a few days prior to our arrival. While it made the landscape even more exquisite, it also reminded us to always say yes...even if everyone else is saying no.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Due to the flooding, all tours around San Pedro de Atacama were canceled. We had no clue this was up when we got here! Sooo many people told us to leave but how could we leave after hours and hours to get here?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We stayed and a couple of days later...powdered sugar sprinkles everywhere 🎉

Welcome to the Moon 🌙
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Valle de la Luna or Moon Valley is just a 13km drive from San Pedro de Atacama and yet a totally different world.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This rugged landscape was formed from wind and ancient water erosion thousands of years ago. The combination of the rock formations, texture and color resembles the surface of the moon, hence the name 🤪

Where's our flag? 🧐🧐🧐
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Right beside the Dakar Monument, there is in abandoned salt hotel called Playa Blanca that now functions as a small coffee shop, exhibition room, and paid toilet break 🧻The only one around so make it count, haha.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Outside is a pile of salt that has been decorated with flags brought by visitors from all over the world namely, the Point of Flags. Swipe right to see if your country's flag is already there. If not, make sure to bring yours to mark a spot in the 💘of Uyuni Salt Flats.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Can you guess which one is ours??? Tell us in the comments and we will share on Stories tomorrow.
