Né le 21 Juillet 1814 à Wrotham en Angleterre, Alfred James Lymmonds Saker (Alfred Saker) est le tout premier Européen à avoir posé les pieds à Limbé en 1858, dont il est le fondateur et qui a vu le jour sous le nom de Victoria. Il a accompli plusieurs œuvres au Cameroun notamment la traduction de la Bible en langue Douala, il a aussi œuvré pour la construction des écoles et des Églises. En signe de reconnaissance pour lui ce magnifique monument a été érigé en son nom à côté de la mairie, face à la mer. Born July 21, 1814 in Wrotham, England, Alfred James Lymmonds Saker (Alfred Saker) was the very first European to set foot in Limbé in 1858, of which he was the founder and which was born under the name Victoria. He has done several works in Cameroon including the translation of the Bible into the Douala language, he has also worked for the construction of schools and churches. As a sign of gratitude for him, this magnificent monument was erected in his name next to the town hall, facing the sea.
